Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 705 People

    Racism = Disgusting

    My whole life I have been involved with other races than my own. Just to let you know, I am Choctaw, Scottish, English, Cherokee, and a couple of others. I'm a Heinz 57. Anyway, I grew up with cousins who are African-american, Caucasian, and native, as well as Asian, Caucasian...

    Breaking Chains

    The things that held me back in life were like chains.  They were painful things like lost love, divorce, an abusive childhood.  I had disappointments that many of my dreams would never be fulfilled.  My childhood was difficult, I felt ridiculed, bullied and at times, lonely...

    My dad was a policeman.

    We lived in an area that was about 50/50 white/Latino. It was a mostly harmonious community. There was a great deal of intermingling. Both my brothers married beautiful Latino girls. I have the most beautiful and precious nieces and nephew. It's sad that one of my nieces...

    Everyone is equal so I can't stand racism/sexism/any other kind of discrimination. If nobody discriminated, the world would be a lot more peaceful.

    Julie Widner was terrified — afraid her husband would do something reckless, even disfigure himself. "We had come so far," she says. "We had left the movement, had created a good family life. We had so much to live for. I just thought there has to be someone out there who will...

    San Patricios....Heros In Mexico, Abused And Treated As Traitors By The USA

    Interesting how the US schools never taught us about the San Patricios, St. Patricks Battalion...and the Irish roll in the Mexican American War in school. The USA today still filters out who's sanitized version of history they shovel down our throats in schools.Depending on our...

    I'm against anyone that is against a particular

    group because of a stereotype of that group. Remember, we are all foreigners that came to this country at one time or another. As such we at one time or another face the same racial stereotyping that the newer immigrants are facing. If you doubt me, do research on the history...

    I've hurt my self physically

    and mentally because of racism. I was continuously bullied for many years and I woke up everyday wondering why I was still alive. But I believe there is a reason I didn't take my own life. I have to believe that something good will come out of it.

    Just Dont Understand It!!

    i mean i just dont understand racism, cos i mean, after all, we all live in this world together, and we are all just trying to get through life just like everyone else, so why should we let the colour of one's skin, get in the way of our lives, it just seems stupid to me!!

    Any way to discriminate against someone is wholly stupid. Each person merits the respect we ourselves desire from others. To allow your misconceptions to govern how you view someone isn't just stupid, insipid, dumb, it's self defeating because if you can do it why can't they...
