I Am Against Racism

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 1,626 People

    My dad was a policeman.

We lived in an area that was about 50/50 white/Latino. It was a mostly harmonious community. There was a great deal of intermingling. Both my brothers married beautiful Latino girls. I have the most beautiful and precious nieces and nephew. It's sad that one of my nieces...

I really loath it when people play the race

card on everything. I'm black, yes I know it's not nice when a white prison call a coloured person black. I am Black, and regardless of your reason for calling me black, I'm proud to be black. #Period!!

I grew up in a very small town.

There were no other faces than white faces. In school, at church and at home I heard and lived with racial slurs, homophobic slurs and prejudice. There was no tolerance for anyone different. I never understood such hatred. As soon as I graduated from high school and left the one...

i mean i just dont understand racism, cos i mean, after all, we all live in this world together, and we are all just trying to get through life just like everyone else, so why should we let the colour of one's skin, get in the way of our lives, it just seems stupid to me!!
