    My parents are both Algerian,

born there and educated. They moved to France for university, and met in Marseille, where I was born. For twelve years we lived in a small apartment until they both came here to England to work, and I came too!

After meeting up with two guys,

my 'friend' pointed to the other person asking me, "Do you know who this guy is?" I was going to respond immediately by "Nope." But that would be rude, I mean, I felt like I had to take a look at him and, at least, pretend that I was trying to guess who he was. (An Algerian...

My mother's family are from Oran.

Algeria is a country with many problems since independence from France. My family were against the independence movement, but only because they could see the good that could come perpetually from intergration into France. Too many peoples are racist. There are some who see the...

    My grandfather was part Algerian.

Yes, he was Jewish but he looked like the Berbers. I never saw him looking any different than a Berber camel herder the whole time I saw him.

My great grandmother was born in Oran.

I am intrigued with the mixture of my family, races and languages, and the exotic nature in our blood.

hey people, i noticed that there are many members on this group, but none posted a story lol is that because Algerians are discret about things that happens to them or because they do not have time for this or for what's the reason??

My family escaped from the Inquisition by way

of Morocco, and to the deserts in what is now Algeria. Their neighbours were said to be Tuareg. They had camels, and goats, in order to fit in unmolested. Eventually, they became traders in the depths of the desert. When the French came to Algeria the opportunities increased...

My ancestors were settlers in Alger,

military, French, but within a few generations my family were fully integrated within the populace. My great grandfather was Muslim, progressively. He even became a teacher at the mosque. My great grandmother was Roman Catholic and never integrated.
