I Am Amazed At the Universe

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 6,552 People

Learned this from Hitchhikers Guide to the

Galaxy. So the universe is infinite, right? But since we know that not all planets are inhabited, there must be a finite number of planets with life, and subsequently there must be a finite amount of life in general. This is expressed as a fraction: planets with life/total...

I am amazed at how much we don't know yet.

Dark matter and string theory ? Multiple dimensions and quantum mechanics It all seems so fascinating!! And now they have found the Higgs Boson particle. What will that discovery lead too next. I am not a scientist. I just find all of this so awe inspiring.

Getting away from the city lights just enough

to see the stars and wonder, "Lord, if You've made this universe so big, how could You have a plan for someone as incompetent as me?" Then He reminds me that just as the universe declares His glory, so too should my life be lived for His glory. What an awesome God. :)

    The Complexity Of Consciousnesses

Throughout my entire life, I've thought about my own ongoing story--All the things I've learned, all the people I love, all the things I've grown to hate, fear, accomplish, laugh at, or remember fondly; all the things I aspire to, all the roads I will or will not go down, every...

The moon is 400 times smaller

than the sun and the sun is 400 times further from earth than the moon. So from earth the moon covers the sun perfectly in a solar eclipse.

I have a weird thinking of the universe,

but one that I love. I see the universe as a melding of both good and evil, in all its forms. And something can be both, as how water can both give life and take it. I see God in all, in the rush of water, in music, in fire, in passion, in beauty, in the simple pleasure of...

Last night, the weatherman said that

if you looked just to the right of the moon🌙 you would see Saturn. So I did. It looked tiny...like just another star in the sea of stars in the sky. With my bare eye, there were no rings to be seen, no magnificent planet to behold. Just something that looked like every other...

I watched the meteor shower again tonight.

I know a lot of people don't enjoy that, but it amazes me. I saw one that broke in two. It was visible for about 6 seconds. It was truly amazing. I saw several satellites pass over. It was greater than any fireworks show I've ever seen. When I watch the stars, I'm reminded of...

The father we look into space,

the further back in time we are looking. Light takes time to reach us. Therefore, the Universe is like a time machine. I was talking to my wife about this a few days ago. I told her, if a civilization 1,000 light years away is looking at Earth, they'll see it as it was 1,000...
