I Am An Army Girlfriend Forum & Chat Board | Back from Afghan

So my boyfriend and I have been together through his whole deployment in Afghanistan. This was his third tour, and we talked to each other every day, several times a day, whether via skype, phone calls, or texts. We were/are pretty serious, and he encouraged me to hang out with his family several times while he was deployed. Well, he just got back yesterday, but a couple days ago he said he wasn't sure if he wanted to be in a relationship anymore and wants to take a break. He said he meant and stills means everything he's said to me the past several months, but he's confused and is feeling overwhelmed. But even more confusing to me is how all of a sudden in a matter of a couple days he could go from being estatic and overjoyed about seeing me to wanting a break? I can't even begin to imagine what he experienced over there and I want to give him his space, but every ounce of me wants to be with him. Any insight or advice?
