I Am An Atheist

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 14,540 People

Hi I'm an atheist. Apparently I have no morals.

Because you know, I couldn't figure out murder is wrong without a 2000 year old badly translated and rewritten book to tell me that. That's why I kill people daily.......................... Oh wait......... I don't? Hmmmmmm. I wonder why?

I've noticed that if you post something under

this experience, the social religious warriors always seem to appear to bring you illogical arguments and insults. Am I offensive in my dealings with these people? Yes, not immediately, but yes. I'm far from unmanageable. There are plenty of people that pose good arguments and I...

    I always feel awkward

when a religious person finds out I don't believe in God and tells me I'm going to hell. It's like, I know you're trying to threaten me but I don't believe in hell so your threat really fell short. I feel bad about it. I know they tried their best.

When I was a little girl,

my parents and society told me all these wonderful things about Santa Claus and how he watched me to be sure I was being good. They told me the same thing about another bearded guy, too, with the same caveats to be good or else. When I was ten or eleven, those same people told me...

Why do Christians lie they have proof of god?

They quite obviously don't and it's kinda funny watching them try to avoid the topic when I ask for the source of their "evidence" :P I have no problem with their belief but lying to get your point across in a debate is just lame.

    There's several reasons

for why people continue to believe in their religion. 1. It provides security during uncomfortable situations. In less developed countries you'll see a lot more instances where religion is prominent and dominant. This is good for the brain in a way, because security is a...

    I get so irritated sometimes!

I made a comment that if there was a god, then there wouldn't need to be a book to tell us about it. Someone replied, if there wouldn't need to be a book, how would people believe in GOD? Seriously?! It's not like I was being esoteric. But I guess I need to spell it out: BECAUSE...

ATHEISTS AND ANGER   I want to talk about atheists and anger.   This has been a hard piece to write, and it may be a hard one to read. I'm not going to be as polite and good-tempered as I usually am in this blog; this piece is about anger, and for once I'm going to...

Enough is enough! It's time to draw that line in the sand. For too long, for millennia, since man first started to form societies we have had our view of the universe tainted with religion. To say that theists have had a fair crack at the whip would be understatement in the...

The argument for or against God is difficult

and rather irrelevant. God is about faith, science is about observation, evidence, repeatable, testable, measurable experimentation. The burden of proof falls on the believers, and it is impossible to empirically prove a negative. Most atheists are agnostic. We don't believe...

when I'm talking religion with a Christian. They always bring up that one of us must be right, theoretically. Either it's God or nothing. They're in the clear because if there is a God, they receive no punishment but if there isn't, then nothing happens to them. So, obviously, I...
