I Am An Atheist

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 14,080 People

I live in a very small Texas bible town.

There are more churches in this town than pretty much any other kind of business. I recently came out as an atheist and the backlash has been astounding. I've had people insult me, condemn me, and one person even assaulted me simply on the virtue of my non belief. Not only am I...

    I feel sorry for Americans.

The country is run by religious nuts who want to drag them all back into the dark ages, and filled with citizens who feel the same way. One of many things that makes me weep for humanity is when they say not to listen to secular music because Satan is behind it. These idiots are...

Hi I'm an atheist. Apparently I have no morals.

Because you know, I couldn't figure out murder is wrong without a 2000 year old badly translated and rewritten book to tell me that. That's why I kill people daily.......................... Oh wait......... I don't? Hmmmmmm. I wonder why?

I see an occasional comment from believers

powerful ******* stupid, especially if you're talking to an atheist. If you already know they're an atheist, making an argument with something you know they don't believe in only proves further that you people are irrational and insane.
