Atheists & Anger - A Blog By Greta Christina

ATHEISTS AND ANGER   I want to talk about atheists and anger.   This has been a hard piece to write, and it may be a hard one to read. I'm not going to be as polite and good-tempered as I usually am in this blog; this piece is about anger, and for once I'm going to...

my daughter was running around with a Mormon

pamphlet yesterday (must have come in the mail.) I looked at it and saw that their depiction of Jesus is a tall, handsome, white man with short cropped hair and blue eyes. these are also the guys who believe Jesus came to America right? wtf?

God's existence is a red herring.

Whether or not God exists is by-and-large a red herring when it comes to most of the objections raised by rational people when it comes to religion. Generally speaking, conflict arises when we end up talking about "god's law". And this is where the manipulation happens...

this experience, the social religious warriors always seem to appear to bring you illogical arguments and insults. Am I offensive in my dealings with these people? Yes, not immediately, but yes. I'm far from unmanageable. There are plenty of people that pose good arguments and I...

I don't know why it is considered bigoted

or closed minded to say that religion is a myth, an urban legend, a lie perpetuated by the wealthy and powerful. -- Let's be honest with ourselves. If an adult believes in Santa, they are not practicing rational thought. Why does religion get a pass, and we aren't allowed to...

    I've noticed a common argument

when I'm talking religion with a Christian. They always bring up that one of us must be right, theoretically. Either it's God or nothing. They're in the clear because if there is a God, they receive no punishment but if there isn't, then nothing happens to them. So, obviously, I...

Imagine that we could revive a well-educated

Christian of the fourteenth century. The man would prove to be a total ignoramus, except on matters of faith. His beliefs about geography, astronomy, and medicine would embarrass even a child, but he would know more or less everything there is to know about God.

Why do Christians lie they have proof of god?

They quite obviously don't and it's kinda funny watching them try to avoid the topic when I ask for the source of their "evidence" :P I have no problem with their belief but lying to get your point across in a debate is just lame.

The argument for or against God is difficult

and rather irrelevant. God is about faith, science is about observation, evidence, repeatable, testable, measurable experimentation. The burden of proof falls on the believers, and it is impossible to empirically prove a negative. Most atheists are agnostic. We don't believe...
