    I Was Born In Vinca

It is a beautiful town in what is called French Catalonia at the junction of a rare wine producing area and the foothills of the Pyrenees. I adore the mountains, and especially Mount Canigou, the holy mountain. I am a history buff too, since the history of the Catalan people is...

Independence for Catalunya may provoke a break

up of the kingdom of Spain, so the politicians oppose it. Like the Basque people, and the Galicians, there is a fervour for an independent nation. My forebear fought for the communist Internationale against Franco, and had to leave Spain and come to live in France, or face...

    Allow Me To Introduce Myself

I'm 13. I'm half Catalan. I speak it, and love Catalonia in general and obviously think it should be independent. The number of times I've had to explain what Catalan is has long since passed 100. It's maddening. Ok, this site annoys me, I think I'll log out. Or... dismember?

My grandmother's father was from Barcelona,

which I'm told was one of two capitals for the Catalan people. He was half Jewish, and he fought with the Internationale.

I am proud of my heritage.

My grandfather says we are descended from the Visigoths who settled here as the Romans left. I am fiercely pro Catalan independence.

    Roots do matter incredibly.

We all need to know where we are from so we can stretch out to our futures. My family have a mixed ancestry. We are Galicians, but we do have blood from among the other peoples of Northern Spain.
