I Am Deaf

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 156 People

I am deaf. Please don't pity me.

I've led a full life and had many good and bad experiences.  I just roll with the punches and grow from it. God had a sense of humor when he made me deaf and I do not blame him. He has given me a life that made me a stronger person. I do lip read when a person speaks...

Ok well I am now deaf in my left ear.

My disease has another side effect that causes hearing loss. They doctors expect me to lose hearing in the other ear in a few days. Now I need to start learning sign language.

    My Profound Experience

Let's see, now.... I suppose I'll start at the beginning? I was born to two hearing parents. We lived in happy bliss for over one and a half years. I was then brought to a pediatric who was concerned with my babbling - I was just muttering gibberish. No "baba" for bottle, "mama...
