It wasn’t until I took the time to

reflect on my life that I began to appreciate what it meant to have a positive outlook. Being told at a young age by medical professionals that I would never be ambulatory could have easily been viewed as a life of imprisonment, but with a promise made to myself to approach...

I think i'm gay because I'm having a big crush

on my best friend. I'm not ashamed being gay but i'm not ready to come out yet. nobody knows that i'm gay and because my friend and I have a close friendship. I'm afraid to lose him if I told him.

I used to be very ashamed of myself,

but now I know that it's okay to be me. I am proud of myself for being who I am and realizing that it's okay to not be a cookie-cutter person.

    Sometimes, I feel as

though I should be ashamed of myself. Ashamed of the way I dress, my size, or even the way I speak. I am short (5ft), and I am probably overweight, due to my love of junk food. I have worn the same hoodie and the same pair of running shoes for over a year now and I rotate...

    After wandering around aimlessly

for years with no direction in life and having what I would consider severe depression, walking into college today to return to education made me feel like I had a purpose. Like I was doing something right for a change. The next 5 years of my life are now planned out so I can...

I am different than most people.

I'm that emo/goth kid who sits in the back of the room. I wear black band shirts everyday, black jeans, and combat boots, I wear a pentagram necklace everyday, and have black emo hair. I don't speak well in front of large groups of people, people look at me weirdly for being...

I am Maghrebi in my looks.

I have Algerian and Moroccan looks. My antecedents were both Berber and Touareg. I like to be warm, but I couldn't live in the desert.

I live in a small anti gay southern town

where people all think alike, but me. There is a few that think like me but really in the end, I'm alone. I believe that people are born the way they are and shouldn't be judged for who they are. Yet, I'm hated for this. I'm hated for being gay, something I can't control.

and i've very often been titled as philosophical and boring just because i would not think or react like kids my age would, although i also do regular stuff like party etc. But that has never brought me down. I'm still the same, pensive person and i hope to stay this way.
