    Brain's Arithmetic

From a very young age I was a bit of a whizz at arithmetic. Never a problem for me. Show me a problem 74 - 38 = x, and my brain - and I'm no genius or anywhere near it - could "see" a pattern, straight off, I don't know to this day how it did it, answer 36. In grade 2 or grade 3...

    As It's Incapabilities...

I know the brain is a magic thing. But I also think it is often overrated. I sometimes have a lot of difficulties remembering a telephone number or I always mix up a few words in a foreign language. This makes me believe the brain is not so waterproof as it is supposed to be...

What if we are nothing more

than machines? Is our brain not just an amazing computer? I am no expert in the matter so i am sorry if it may sound stupid, but what if we were created by someone much more inteligent than us? At the rate technology is advancing, we may soon be able to create a computer as...

    Euler On Fermat's Primes

Leonhard Euler (1703-1783) was one of the greatest mathematicians of all time. Look seriously into any area of mathematics and you will run across an Euler's theorem, or an Euler's rule, Euler's number, or something named after him. It was said he calculated the way normal men...

    Anything Is Possible

They say that humans only use a small portion of their brain and mind's power. So how do we push past these boundaries? I suppose one could dedicate their time to finding the answer, which has to be out there, but what if you never found it or you did but you were to old and...

5 years ago my life changed dramatically.  I was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) Brain Tumor, Grade IV, and underwent 8-hours of wide-awake brain surgery, followed by chemotherapy and radiation.  A pulmonary embolish then occurred - greatly impacting...

I'm a medicine enthusiast (and sometimes regret not having studied that at University, but that's  completely different story) so I love to read about the most different related topics. One of the most fascinating for me is actually how the brain works, and its actual...

    Smells , Sights ... Memories

I am so astonished how efficiently the brain decodes the streams of signals that pour in through the nerves .How it can link these signals with details stored in its memory . A certain smell will trigger the brain to bring up a long- forgotten event.Or even with you see a flash...

Jesus has shown me just how much the brain can

do!!! I cannot put into words the things I've known and what my mind has achieved. It would take a novel and I wouldn't know where to start. Let's just say He gave us clues in His Word and He gave me just a taste even though, I, like everyone, am unworthy... Thank you Lord

My Brain Resolves Another Issue For Me

I've been developing a new theory for quite some time now. (Yes, I'm a bit slow.) And lately I've been pretty pleased with where it's at. Then yesterday afternoon it suddenly hit me that there was a potential loophole for my critics to drive their panzer divisions of dismissal...

    It's a sucky situation

and to be truthful, glad when it's over, except the irony is, one won't have an awareness to be glad. And really, one just wants it to be ok now. And the wanting it to be ok, well that is the thing that makes it not ok. It's all tied up in seeing the possibilities, and thinking...

Your brain and body are one!

In 1964 in the English newspaper on the front pages, a man locked in a refrigerator and was frozen to death. The story doesn't sound so startling until you read the story behind the headlines. the mans autopsy showed all the symptoms of his death were due to freezing...

    Whitney Houston's Return

Two of my favourite flicks are Apocalypse Now and The Bodyguard. (OK, I'm ready to be jumped on for the latter, as lots of critics think it's a dumb movie; never mind). But as I've recounted scenes to students and friends over the years, relating in the former the Wagnerian...

Modern super computers are now better at processing information than the greatest human minds. But they're still incapable of learning, except in the most limited form. They still need humans to program them. And they really think they can take over the world? Dream on!

    Dream Themes

They say sweet dreams are made of this. Of what? I know not. I am ignorant when it comes to the brain and dreams. I have read nothing on the subject. So this story, be prepared, is me flying by the seat of my pants. I almost never have sweet dreams. The 2 themes that dominate my...
