My grandfather grew up in Fiji. He's 1/2 Scottish, 1/4 Fijian, 1/4 European. He's quite dark skinned. My mother's slightly dark, you might think she's southern European. I just look like an average white person though.
When your eating curry beans with roti with you'r hands at work and every time somebody walks by you feel like their thinking in their heads "WTF that's gross" or some sort of "fresh off the boat" jokes.

both my parents and it's a running joke in the family that we get our hair from the Fijian side as well.
My uncle who is a priest in Fiji has tried to teach me a couple of words in Fijian but I have to admit defeat- it's a hard language to learn.
