I Am From the South

    I'm Southern and I'm Proud!

I was born and raised in the south. True southern girl. I love the food, the music, just the place in general. I don't have a very strong accent, and actually didn't think I even had one until I went to visit my family in Illinois. They were amused by mine and my grandma's...

I Still Refuse To Call Myself A Dixie Chick

I was born and raised in Tennessee. The only problem is, I don't fit in the south because no one else in my family was born or raised here. My whole life I have been mostly in the company of southerners, and had no earthly idea what they were talking about, what their slang...

But Is It Really The South?

I wonder whether one can really call "Charlotte" part of the south. Geographically, yes, but is it really home to the southern culture? It's such a metropolitan city, it doesn't really have that distinctly southern flair. But nevertheless, I identify myself as a southerner.

    All My Life

I have visited other places, but I was born in the South, and have only lived here. I have lived in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and North Carolina. For all that people tease about the way we talk, and our backward ways, I like it here. I like that men...

I was barely out of diapers when my family moved to the Gulf Coast, and I spent the next 31 years in the South.  I became accustomed to a place where people smile at and greet strangers on the street, where children study etiquette and table manners, where neighbors are...

I Guess I Can Say That.

I am born and raised in North Florida and my family have been here for generations, so no I am not a Transplant and a rare breed among Floridians. Florida is my home and will always be my true home even if I live somewhere else. We are not southerners nor will we ever be, we will...

    A Little About Me

My parents were very strict with their rules, we understood them and did as we were told. To a large degree i was the rebel in the family, i took after my father quite naturally. But i knew where my place was, even though i bickered about it a lot. Children were to be seen and...

Buttered Biscuits To Melt Your Heart

I have lived all along the southern coast and in Oklahoma throughout my life but have spent most of my time in Georgia. While I do have a southern accent, my mindset is not so much. I am a liberal living in an extremely conservative town and I hate it at times. It's in a rural...

No Matter How You Slice It

I was born in Texas and raised in Virginia. I'm proud of being from the south and wouldn't change it for nothing. And just so everyone knows. I am not a redneck, hick or am I unintelligent. Though I do know the type.

    I was born in Oklahoma

and raised in Texas. But I don't have a southern accent. The only southern thing I say is y'all. I've heard ppl say I was from Canada at one time now ppl say I sound like I'm from the west coast. Which is cool cuz I'm all about that life.

    I've never been so ready

for dove season. Sure, I love deer, duck, and turkey season. Meat in the freezer that I always end up preparing. (Which I don't mind.) But there is NOTHING like camping out the night before a dove hunt to wake up bright and early. Then that evening having the best dove and bacon...

I was born and raised in Southern Arizona.

I lived there until I graduated from Arizona State University, just outside of Phoenix. I got married at age 21 and finished my bachelor's degree program. That following fall, I was admitted and completed law school three years later. My husband was already in the military...

    Southern Pride

It's warm summer nights, honey suckle thick in the air...crickets chirping and fireflies in the sky. The trickle of a stream, the way the grass sways to the wind like music notes on your soul. Long dirt roads, fishing poles....floating rivers with cold beer and bare feet...

No, I am not from the south.

. I'm actually a Rebel.. If you want to call it that. But I loved the short time I was able to visit, and I can't deny that is where my heart got left.
