My hearing loss is profound at the left,

and severe at the right. I use a QLeaf Pro for my right, and nothing for my left (mostly because I don't feel it helps with the clarity). For my right, the hearing aid has been helpful, but I still struggle everyday. By being a programmer, I thought I would not have to deal...

    How To Respect Deaf/hard-of-hearing People

    1. Be patient. If I ask you to repeat yourself a couple of times or to anunciate more slowly, please do not write me off with a curt and irritated "Nevermind." That kind of embarrassment and inner frustration is very hard to shake. Understand that if we are somewhere loud like a...

had my annual ENT check up

and hearing tests last Thursday (14). Nothing had changed hearing wise, so I'm still half deaf. The audiologist told me that my hearing aids were out of date so I'm hoping that they (UK NHS) upgrade them for me. Becky x

I Don'T Know What Caused It.

3 years ago I got hearing aides. The doctors told me they were surprised I could even talk at all, I don't have a lisp or any speech problems and at 3 I had 30% hearing loss which was when they should've given me hearing aides. When I was 3 I lived in Illinois and they didn't...

    silence it's so peaceful,

    Meet Deaf People Online

I just start to learn ASL recently, am hard of hearing. I can sign some simple words now. I joined a great deaf daing site, --- www.kissdeaf.com ---, and met some good deaf/HOH friends over there. They help me to learn ASL.

My hearing loss was diagnosed in December 2013

and I got my first nearing aid shortly after. I'm in the UK so I got one through our NHS system. It was a neat grey coloured BTE with an open ear fit. I was tested again in the beginning of January this year and my hearing has gotten worse. This time they fitted 2 BTE aids...

people would ask me all the time,

especially if my hearing aids were visible, " what happened to you?" and I never knew what to say, so I would just tell them nothing happened,I was just born into the world deaf, and if I figured that they were they were capable of understanding, I would add profoundly deaf. yet...
