I had always had an interest in the military. We lived in an area where we were surrounded by it, Army, Navy, Air Force and the Coast Guard. Plus my dad served, my uncle was a career man and my grandfathers were WWII vets. It was hard to not be influenced. I joined on the split...

    My First Experience

My first experience in war went a little like this with the French. I was deployed with another soldier to scout and area that we were picking up strong radio waves from. At last we had reached the area. We lay low but eventually I let my guard down and we were caught by a group...

    I'll be completely honest.

I hate my job. It is not a worthwhile career. it squanders talent. It plugs unqualified people into many jobs and acts like it's system of job placement (especially for officers) is the best thing ever. I thought the army meant something but right now all I see is bureaucratic...

    Been In Since 2005

I started off as 11B with the Illinois national guard. After about two years though I decided to go active duty and went to Germany. I wasn't even there a month before being sent to Iraq to catch up to my unit that had only been gone a month. I was there exactly 1 year in Baghdad...

    So Here I Am

So there I was, pen in hand and ready to sign, join the army they said, it will be fun they said, later on in basic I'm getting yelled at for just existing, but it wasn't all bad sometimes we would all get to do pushups and all that fun stuff, go on long brisk walks and so on, so...

I'm actually here to ask a question.

Is it possible for an enlisted soldier, who has gone through training and signed for a 2-year or 4-year contract, to be sent away on a mission? Like overseas or something? How does it work? I hope you don't find me insensitive, when I say I'm doing research for a novel and I...

I've had the craziest experience being in the

army the places I've traveled and the different people I've met and became friends with. The lifestyle of a soldier is something I could have never even dreamed of. The culture changes is almost shocking when you see how people view life in they're perspective.

I Decided To Be An Army Officer

Much of our time here we are under a potential attack from our Muslim neighbours in some way. They still don't like the fact that Israel exists in their midst. We are very much an armed camp, it seems to me at times. I live in Beit She'an, which was always a Jewish settlement in...

So, I'm pretty new here. I've only been in for about 6ix months or so.. But most of that was just training training, and some more training. I'm done now, I'm also "ACTIVE DUTY" Anyways, today we're having this thing called a "Patch Ceremony" I feel kind of special in a way...
