    Anthropology

I took an "Asian Cultures" class in College and it was truly excellent. This is a wonderful nuance of a culture different than mine, with its own little rituals and secrets.  In many ways I envy their little secrets. I'm like that with all the "hidden"...

Geisha - the Beauty of Old Japan.

These women were entertainers, so beautiful and talented. They had a way about them that made them so out of this world. Geisha deserve respect. As missalissa said they were so much more then just glorified prostitutes. - RDW

    Of Course, So Beautiful And...

Of course, so beautiful and intelligent.  I sing opera, and have performed in Madama Butterfly twice as a Geisha.  I learned so much about Geisha then.  How to walk pigeon toed so that hem of the dress doesn't move, how to gracefully wipe lipstick from a tea...

Loved the movie Memoirs of a Geisha - it defined their role for me, I thought they were glorified prostitutes before the movie.

Most definatly. I think that culture within a culture is so complex and beautiful. Besides... Geishas do have a kind of honor and I just find that amazing.

    It Started With Shogun

As a kid, I watched the mini-series Shogun on tv for that week in the 80s, and was hooked on Japan, Japanese culture, and geisha. I promptly read the book afterward. I even borrowed some Japanese books from the library to try and learn some of the language. The fascination died...

    Beautiful

After I read "Memoirs of a Geisha", I was fascinated by the beauty and culture and quietness these women possess.  They have this aura about them, they are to be respected and loved.  A gentle beauty.  A natural beauty.  And all the work they go...

Read The Book And The Movie

I first saw the movie when I was about thirteen, and it was a copied disc. It was a really fascinating life that the movie introduced, I wondered how someone could be sold off to a life like that and just forget their past life and take up one devoted pleasing men. I later read...

Ever since reading the book I have found them fascinating. I love the whole look and the lengths they go to to sustain that look. They look so beautiful and interesting, I'd love to learn more about them :)
