I Am Native American (cherokee)

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 5,964 People

I wish knew more about my heritage.

I'm Black but my family is kinda mixed up feature wise and by heritage. I know I have a lot of Native American blood such as Cherokee and Choctaw. Even if I never know how much I still and proud or wherever it is my family comes from.

I am half Cherokee from my mothers side.

My father is Irish. But I look more like my mother. I know some of the history of the people, but I would really like to get to know more, visit the places my ancestors lived and learn more about how they lived.

Oh my god, no you're not.

99% of the people that are part of this thread are just random Americans (who descended straight up from white pilgrims or other settlers) who are claiming that they're 1/4 this and 1/16 that to feel special.

Therefore, my great-great grandma was half, my great grandma was one-fourth, my grandpa is one-eighth, my dad's one-sixteenth, and I'm one-thirty secondth. Math rules.
