I Am Nearsighted

Not much to say here. The group name says it all. I had to get glasses when I was ten, due to my propensity for reading by the light of the moon. When I was supposed to be sleeping, I would be reading by the moonlight coming in my bedroom window.

Without wearing either glasses or contacts, the world beyond the edge of my nose is turned into a world of blurred colours.  I have extremely bad eyesight, which did not become bad until I started to wear glasses in my early teens.  Now I cannot see without either...

    What's Your Take?

My left eye is nearsighted My right eye is perfectly okay (though one test said it is farsighted) I don't wear glasses because I am not used to wearing one, and I can still see thank GOD. Is this NORMAL?

I am nearsighted & my vision without corrective

lenses is really pretty bad. I'm not quite but just about, legally blind without them. I've been wearing glasses since the sixth grade. Unfortunately, my vision has still continued to progressively get worse throughout the years. With that my night vision has become almost...

    Am I Near Sighted?

Had an eye exam recently and when i picked up my glasses i noticed the distance vision was blurred. When i am not wearing them i can see the jet in the sky in front of the white plume, so i don't see how the doc can be right about me being near sighted. I don't want to mess up my...

Take away my glasses and I can't even tell you there ARE letters on the eye chart!  If you can't see the big E (in the US, at least) it means you're legally blind...so I guess I can honestly say I'm blind without my glasses!Fortunately with glasses I can see normally... but my...

    Getting new glasses again.

I missed my last appointment, so it has been about a year since I last got my eyes checked. Like always, my prescription increased. I will soon be sporting my first double digit glasses. My prescription is now -11.25, -12.00 and -3.00 and -3.75 astigmatism. This is the biggest...

    Blind As A Bat!

I've been wearing glasses since I was in 7th grade. I've never worn contacts, so as you can probably guess, I've been depending on my glasses to help me see clearly. Without them, I can't see anything within five feet in front of me. Everything is just a complete blur. The first...

    Sure Am

If I didn't wear my glasses, I'd be a hazard to myself and others.  So, I need to wear them all the time, except during sleepy-time; sometimes I fall asleep with them on which is not good for obvious reasons.

    Gods, 'tis Ridiculous.

I've had terrible eyesight for most of my life. Because I was homeschooled when I was younger and never had to worry about reading a board, I didn't realize just how bad my eyes were for a long time. Then, in eighth grade, I took some classes through some homeschool program...

Just had an eye doctors appointment

after a year and almost 3 months (I had been pushing it off cause I knew I would hate the outcome). It was complete disappointment, I got so much more nearsighted and my astigmatism power also increased. This increase is so much more than any I have ever had in the past. My...

    Since I Was A Kid.

I got m first pair of glasses when I was in fifth grade, they were those round Harry Potter-ish glasses which made my round face even rounder. Four years ago I got my current pair (square frame this time) and I haven't had to go back to the eye doctor for a new pair since. The...

    Damn Glasses

I can't see my feet without them... well let's say they are at least blurry... I envy those who get up in the morning and can see everything clearly... no hunting for glasses, having to constantly clean them... wipe rain off them and yes.. replace them when you drop them and...

I Had A Physical The Other Day

And the freakin' lady, so short looked like she couldn't see over her bathroom counter, tells me, "Stand here and look at the eye chart and read the first clear line."   My glasses were in my pickup at my workplace a few miles away.  NOBODY TOLD ME I HAD TO...

    Oh Yeah

Near in one eye, far in the other, oh yeah and astigmatism in both. Your wrong, it does happen. Eye doctors ask where I was treated and then rattle off a case number from when they were in med school when I tell them.

    I Found Out

When I was 13.  They told me I also had an astigmatism, if that's spelled right.  Anyway they gave me bifocals (at 13 ha) and I cannot for the life of me drive without my glasses. I love my glasses, btw.  I never want contacts because the glasses are just me. ...

I am nearsighted and I love it!

    I am severly nearsighted

and have quite a bit of astigmatism. I got my first ones when I was 4 years old, I had to start wearing them full-time because my eyesight was apparently already pretty bad and I had astigmatism. Every year my eyesight got steadily worse. When I was 11 my eyesight started to...
