Man, I Love The Summer Time...

In the summer time, i rarely cook my food indoors.  On most days, i set myself up a chair on the porch and my headphones and commence to grilling.  I grill everything.  Meat, seafood, veggies, and fruit - i grills it all.  Except pork.  Pork is not...

    Hey

When i get paid, i like to actually see where my money is going.  First thing i do is pay all of my bills and set aside money for gas.  Ain't nothing wrong with that, now. I purchase generic brands in the grocery store.  Canned corn is CANNED CORN, i don't care if...

My husband is the impulse shopper,

whereas I can't even make a minor purchase without extensive cost comparison and research. Love hand-me-downs and love to DIY whenever possible. Can't wait 'till I have land to farm and garden and live even more sustainably.

    Just The Way I Am

I tend to ware thing out, fix it until it can't be fixed anymore, buy used instead of new and in general get my moneys worth.  This drives some people crazy and others understand.  I like to hang out with those that understand.

    Winter Is Coming

and i need to invest in a toaster oven and maybe even a rice cooker.  I really need that toaster oven though - my old one caught fire (it's been passed down since the 70's in my family) and my oven doesnt work (not that i would use it anyway).  Meats cooked in the...

    Thrifty?

You can call me whatever you like, but the bottom line is, I respect the work that goes into earning a dollar, and I'm not about to go out and blow my (or anyone else's) hard-earned money on something unreasonably expensive. As long as I have what I need, I'm fine.

I believe that the difference between cheap

and frugal is not so much the dollars but the value from the product or service. "cheap" people normally do not want to pay anything for anything while "frugal" people want to get the most value for the money they do want or need. I believe that I fit under "frugal." I know...

    I Refuse To Waste

Yes, I too admit to being frugal, cheap, a tightwad. I enjoy saving and watching my money in the savings account increase each month rather than spend of mess I dont need. Ways I save, well, I make my own detergent and fabric softner sheets. I purchase foods that are on sell. I...

    Crockpot Blues

I wonder who invented it.  Not only does it cook a great meal, it's healthier, and it uses very little electric.  We're talking something like a quarter (25 cents) per kilowatt hour on it's highest setting.  There isn't much clean-up after using it.  And you...

    So What?

If I can save money by buying the cheaper non-name branded thing then that means I have more money to buy something else I want later.

I Love My Cast Iron Pots And Pans

Nothing outlasts cast iron, nor is anything as durable.  Even when cooking on the stove top, they don't really need all that much heat which is great for the electric bill.  The only thing i hate about them is that they have to be cured every once in a while, so i have...

to wash out the zip bags and reuse them until they can no longer be used, or to reuse the tin foil the ones that van be cleaned, or to use my tea bag twice, or maybe three times before I through it out? or to mel the small soap pieces left over into a new bar...see I think this...
