Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 130 People

    Here is just a question

that goes into my mind. 1) is it your right to believe a person should be allowed to marriage the same sex 2) Is it okay to stomp on an American flag and burn one without people flipping out 3) does every U.S. Citizen have the right to the first amendment 4) are you allowed to...

Go to www.texasconfederateveterans.com to see that there were blacks that fought for the south and were armed with weapons and actually attended Confederate Reunions 40 years after the war and see pictures of blacks that support the Confederate Flag today.

    Several points seem to make

that flag invalid for me. 1. Don't be a sore loser. I thought history is usually made valid by the victor. Not saying it's moral but that's just what happens. So flying that flag would be to me considered treason, since we are not the confederacy of the states but now the...

Actually I'm not. I am actually very proud to

have this flag. It is a part of the history of my great country. And oh say that the flag is racist? Is this correct? Well you are wrong. The flag is not racist. The flag does not even have feelings. People are racist. That's like saying that guns kill people. Want to take them...

I Have A Message For Those Who Claim The

Confederate Flag Represents Their HeritageJune 19, 2015 By Allen CliftonI’ve lived in the South my whole life, Texas to be exact. To say the South is like an entirely different country in some aspects is exactly right. As a progressive living in this state, sometimes I...

    What's the Point?

Why display the Confederate flag? I just don't understand it, and I think it sends the wrong message across. At best, it labels you as a beer-guzzling redneck. At worst, it advertises racist views and blatant disregard for the law and the United States of America. It's not a...

In addition to having obvious racist connotations, the flag represents the greatest act of treason in our country's history. You want to wave to confederate flag around? That's wonderful. But at the very least acknowledge that the flag represents the ideals of traitors.

    Pure Hatred

Living in the south it has always been a symbol of hatred.  Its the no coloreds allowed sign that keeps us in line.  I personally would never patronize any place that displays it so with that being said I suppose I contribute to the obvious attempt at illegal...

    What Nonsense

Only in totalitarian societies does the state purport to express the views of every last citizen. Indeed, the history of totalitarianism is a history of snuffing out all dissenting views with tactics ranging from censorship to mass murder. To this list should be added the...

    They're No Prize Themselves!

I lived in a small town. When I was growing up, there were a few stupid people who drove around with the Confederate Flag on their antennas or had it in their windows. I think it is not only symbolic of hatred and bigotry, but also a symbol of stupidity. I have been hated a...

The confederate flag symbolizes racism and nothing else. Basically, when you fly that sucker, you're saying, "I endorse slavery." Was that not the basis of secession? And hence the flag? Hm? You can argue with me saying it's part of your heritage...

    History Buff

I hate it when so-called "history buffs" try to write off the Civil War as a clash of differing industry. People in my state, Georgia, use the flag as a symbol of "agricultural perseverance." Ever heard of the Mudsill theory? The confederate flag represents soci-political...

    Where I Live

I see one on the drive to school from home.  It is a big flag by the interstate.  If I avoid the interstate I get to see a buch of signs telling me things like I need to repent or worship God.  I find all of the above equally offensive.  I guess that is a...

I'm modestly conflicted on this topic.

I am neither racist nor even southern by extraction or affiliation. I do think that the Confederate flag has been used *as* a racist rallying symbol and for that reason alone, I understand why many want it taken out of public places, etc. I understand that it *was* the...
