I Am Profoundly Gifted

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 104 People

    Hello To All Pg's

I will keep my initial story brief. In addition to being profoundly gifted (and not knowing it for most of my life, although all the signs were there, in hindsight), I am profoundly isolated (from others).

Verbally Gifted, One Token Grade Skip, 12 Years of Public School Hell and Emotional Neglect

I normally say I'm exceptionally gifted--I've estimated my IQ at about 160 on the old Stanford Binet that has the high ceilings and the possible 20 pt verbal bias, but that's just a hunch. I used to admin the forum Gifted Haven, which has now vanished from the internet. It bites...

    I got recognized as gifted

when I was 17 years old. Due to mental illnesses and medication etc. Some areas like memory, logic and the likes were retardedly low. Other areas like language, spacial and visual understanding were almost immeasurably high. Prior to that, I've failed academically...

    Profoundly Lonely...

I want to scoop out my intelligence, empathy and compassion... NOW!What good does an excellent proficiency in language, a connection to those in pain and an understanding of life do??I am profoundly profane, not sacred, special nor able to keep a companion.I hate that my "gifts...

    Such Is My Life

They say that in the case of a genius, there is often some prevalent deficiency elsewhere in the brain. While I am certainly not implying that I am a genius, rather, not, I am exceptionally intelligent. My brain deficiency comes in the form on unbalanced chemicals resulting in...

    IQ of 153

That has caused me to see most people as idiots (they are), but it's not such a big deal. At least it gives me an edge over the idiots at strategical thinking!

Just the title of this group makes me feel better, although I am not sure how safe it would be for me to share my story. Nevertheless I thought it would be nice to join in and say hello :) P.s. I can see that people got a chance to read this but now you can see why I didn't share...

    Very Gifted... And Then?

I guess I am neither completely "profoundly gifted" (with an IQ of 155+), nor "normally gifted". This has however been sufficient to make me "different" and for people, even now that I am older and in the workforce, to notice now and then that I am 'so intelligent', despite my...

    Comes With a Price

I was tested with an IQ of 149 at age 6, and later at age 12, tested again at 162.   I never experienced the severe bullying that others talk about, as I was put into a small Sub-School (I.E. a wing in a public school designated to gifted students) with other 'gifted...

    I Am A Multipotentialite

OK, "profoundly gifted" may be a bit of a stretch. But I seem to have a fairly high IQ, I speak four languages fluently, I am a talented illustrator and painter, a singer, writer and lyricist. I was very good academically, I studied at Oxford University, got an M.A., landed a job...

    Artistically Gifted

    The World'S One Crime

My glasses are tinted red. All I wanted was to be left alone. Surely the interior of one's own mind constitutes the most sacred space in any human? An intrusion upon it seems a violation, an assault. This is how I have felt throughout my education. My mother says that by the age...
