I Am Proud to Be An American

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 985 People

I tried to serve my country by joining the

military right out of high school but they wouldn't let me because of my depression so I do whatever I can to support service men and women and vets. I love this country and I would gladly take up arms to defend it

    Complete Joy

As an eyewitness to that horrible day in Septemeber 2001, as an American, as a human being, I cannot begin to tell you how happy I was when I heard that Bin Laden was killed. Not captured, but killed. I was filled with absolute and complete joy. What we all wanted on Setptember...

It's sort of like being a sports fan.

Regardless of how things are going, you are either with them through thick and thin, or you ride their coattails when things are good, but bail when they stumble. I am an American and nothing will ever deter me. I am in it for the long haul.

    Proud to be an American?

I'm proud to be Native American! The real foundation, the real roots of this land until Americans ripped those roots up and tossed them like they owned this land! You want to talk about being proud?! You are proud of America cutting our trees, knocking down our forests, buying...

I am a very proud American.

I gave 26 years of my life to our military. I am very patriotic as well. Every time our National Anthem is played, I proudly stand, place my hand over my heart or salute the flag in uniform, and sing along in unison with the crowd at a military formation, parade, or sporting...

supposed to be responsible for something or someone. I think for the first time in my life, I see what it feels like to NOT feel responsible for once. I think it is part of my culture as an American to be responsible.

The most illusive notion known to the modern

Being an American is something special.

It is possible to immigrate to any country I'm the world but you will never be considered one of them. Here in the United States a person can be first generation and still be considered by all a full blooded American. It's something to be proud of.
