I'm full blooded, I don't speak any spanish.

The reason is that I was little, can't speak until I was nine years old. I do understand little and I need to take spanish class. I have family who live in Puerto Rico and I'm sure miss all that food.

my mom was born and raised in ponce.

I grew up in Bronx (NYC). I have been to the island a few times and unfortunately I did not enjoy myself. I am proud of being a Puerto Rican new yorker.

    I'm actually full Puerto Rican.

Funny thing I'm not proud of it xD Main reasons are my own race has always picked on me throughout my life and school. Second I barely understand any spanish and can't speak it. The only people I understand are my parents which is pretty odd. Third, I don't really like the...

    I Am Half Puerto Rican.

I love the culture. The food is deliciously devine. The music is so romantic. The dance is very erotic. Although I was born and raised here in the United States, my heart is in Puerto Rico. I love visiting the Island where the air is warm and there are many beautiful people to...

And What Does A Puerto Rican Look Like?

I am half Puerto Rican from my father's side. My mom is Italian and Irish. I came out with lighter skin than my mom, light hair, and light eyes, but I look like my father and abuela, (you can say I am a "white version" of them). It never ceases to amaze me that some ignorant...

    A Different Kind Of Boricua

People expect Puerto Rican women to act like the Boricuas in NYC and surrounding areas. Those are Nuyoricans. As stereotypical as it may sound, we are not all like JLo. I have come across people that have very primeval views and ideas of what a Puerto Rican woman is all about...

    I love my Puerto Rico.

Both of my parents were born there and so was I. Que viva Puerto Rico!!!!! What I do not like are puertoricans who aren't familiar with the culture, can't speak the language, but pride themselves in being "boricua" during the parade. Give me a break!

    I act more Puerto Rican

than both of my siblings. I eat the food, listen to the music, speak the language, but the funny thing is, I'm not too proud of it. They don't really have a good reputation here, which is a shame, but I can see why.

    New York Rican

I was born and raised in NYC, I'm proud to come from Puerto Rican Parents. I love my heritage. Represent it to the fullest. Know my history, can read and write Spanish, speak Spanglish. Love salsa, reggaeton. Love the island, been there twice but want to go back and live there.

    I Hate It Here

I can honestly say I hate Puerto Rico. And it's sad, because it's the place where I was born and raised. It's the only place I've ever called home. But the crime rate is so damn high, and the people are so rude. I can't wait to finish with my education and just haul ***.
