I Am Scared of the Ocean

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 58 People

    Snorkeling Accident

The ocean is so vast and the swells get huge and unpredictable. I was on my honeymoon and instead of going through the hotel we decide to go with a group from the beach who was a lot cheaper. Bad idea. They took us out to a cove near some coral and then the swells came in. My...

Afraid Of The Deep Blue Sea...

I'm not exactly scared of all types of water. I can go swimming at the beach, as long as I don't stick my head under. Anyways, I'm mostly scared of, Deep Murky water ~ have you ever been to a store where they sell live crabs & lobsters? Have you ever seen a tub of dark looking...

I live in Florida so this is not so great, but it's just one of many fears I have. I liked the ocean when I was a kid, but now all I can think about it getting stung by a jellyfish again or being eaten by a shark. I'm never ever the farthest one out, because in my mind that's the...

I have always been scared of the ocean,

i know how to swim but I'm scared of sharks and jelly fish. People are like there is a small chance that you will ever be bitten. I say "say that to the people who were bitten" or "i bet the people who were bitten had the same thing said to them before they bitten."

Just think about not knowing what's under the

water anything can be at your feet. Also humans don't know much about the ocean we are finding new creatures everyday. Evidence of megalodon and mermaids swimming freely.

    I Never Swim In It

I do love to walk around a shore or something, but I'm really scared of going into it. I'm scared of jellyfishes that are often in oceans. I'm scared because there are things down there everytwhere that I can't see. I could step on something poisonous all the time... And then...

well the ocean hurts, when you are in the water and you are walking back, the waves knock you down into the rough sand. and the sand gets in places you don't want it to! and my friend found a knife in there once. it was scary!

I'm Not Afraid, I'm Not Afraid, I'm Not Afraid!

I have been terrified of water that's deep enough to go over my head since I was a little girl and my best friend told me that the pike in the lake would bite my toes off.  Afterwards, as soon as my feet would leave the bottom of the lake or ocean, I would panic. I...

    And why shouldn't I be?

haha I've almost drowned too many times and grew up with ear infections that wouldn't even allow my head under water for a very long time. Not to mention we've only actually explored 10% of the ocean and most of the creatures in it look like terrifying gigantic aliens. Did you...

    Always Inviting Me

In a way I am scared of the ocean. It's always there for me if I want a way out. No one would even ever know it was deliberate. I could just swim until I got tired and cold and fell asleep. I won't ever do that, though.. I'm not allowed. I have family, and true friends who...

    Why?

It's kind of ridiculous, I'm nowhere near the ocean, and will probably never go near it...I guess it's those big sharks on TV perhaps...but I also think those are pretty cool. Or maybe it's because of all those other ugly things that can poison you or...something...

since I was 6 or 7. I'm just to scared. The Sharks the jellyfish, and tell me who wants to be chased my a creature in the water. A place you can not breath, barely see, sandy, if you get water in your mouth you get dehydrated. Thank you!
