I Am Sentimental

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 214 People

    Attached To So Many Things

I get attached to so many things! I still play with stuffed animals because I can't turn them away. I get attached to flowers and spend hours talking to them. I cry and feel sad when some I love is taken away. Then I imagine it's soul some where else. I feel so alone and crazy...

    Memories Are Valuable to Me!

I am soooo sentimental.  Things that have meaning to me - have special memories attached to them - those are the things that hold value for me - those are the things that I want to have in my life. I never truly knew my dad's parents/my grandparents - they were not good...

    Little things mean a lot.

I have a treasure chest of trinkets that hold special meaning. I also take rocks, sand, wood, and other things from places I visit. I love the Earth and nature. Holding a rock in your hand and thinking about the time it took to form, weather, and travel is amazing to me. I...

    My Reminders...

All of my memories are important to me. I keep my favorite reminders in a journal, and a box under my bed has all kinds of junk from the past few years. I also have a dresser in my closet that is full of birthday cards and little toys from when I was a lot younger. I love...

    I like reminiscing happy memories,

enjoy watching babies, looking at old pictures, keeping souvenirs. I am moved to tears when I am being sung "Happy Birthday," I cry when watching love stories, I get teary-eyed when I speak from the heart. I am so soppy, indeed. ;)

Maybe too much. People enter my life then fade

away like ghosts. All i am left with are memories and questions. I wonder if they ever think about me and the things we shared and enjoyed. probably not, since they vanished forever

    That Light In The Trees...

When I look back, I am always comforted by certain memories. Even what seemed so bad at the time, had some characteristics worth remembering. I have always found myself taking parts of the events of life and storing them away in my mind to recall whenever I want. The times...

Things That Are Sweet And Quaint Give Me The Warm Fuzzies

I think part of being sentimental means believing there was a time in the past, whether it be your own past or some historic past, that was sweeter, simpler, and more enjoyable than where you currently are. Maybe this is a fallacy, but thinking back on my childhood Christmases...

    ...about the oddest things.

I've got this battered old kitchen knife block with a few knives I bought in a thrift store a couple of years ago. I meant it to be a temporary thing but it turns out that ten (or thereabouts) dollar purchase is something meaningful to me. I was just making lunch for work...
