    Vodka-less.

I have been sober for a year and a half now.  I decided to stop drinking a few months after my 21st birthday.  For most people, turning 21 was the time to start drinking and hang out at the bars but by that time, I was definitely sick of the whole scene.  I started drinking...

    Goodbye Heroin

I was a junkie for 5 years and I am 3 years sober. I tried so many other drugs but heroin and a few other opiates were my docs. I loved the needle and it controlled me. I never want to go back to that life and I hope I never will. I love and cherish my sobriety.

and 8 months. It's been going pretty well. I am not tempted to drink, for I am used to not drinking now. But I am so bored. I hate being around cold beers and coolers with ice and people having fun. I shouldn't feel this way but I do. I want to drink again, but to do so would...

Alcohol Reduces Your Use To Others.

I have been sober for several days. I think that alcohol poisons the brain even when your alcohol titers are low. You get shaky and nervous in situations where you normally drink and are compelled to imbibe. Then one day someone says something and you realize you are not in a...

I have dipped in and out of the 12 steppers for 8 years now.  AA in Australia is a bit different from the US from what I can gather.  Over here there's not as much emphasis on doing the steps and the whole spiritual kaboodle, which is frankly what puts most people off...

I quit drinking almost 13 years ago.

I don't mind being around people that drink. Just because I don't drink doesn't mean I don't want my friends to. I want them to be responsible, but have fun and do what they want. I'm sober from alcohol and all drugs, but, I think marijuana should be legalized. They could tax...

for 7 years, two months. I am taken aback by being sober this long. I would say that I didn't have any sober time because I had less than 7 years. All the people I had admired had at least 7 years and then all the sudden WTF?! 7 years and all the sudden I was an old-timer.
