    I Miss The Mountains

I’m not from what some would call the south but where I grew up couldn’t have been more southern. I grew up in a tiny holler where sadly I was the only girl. Yes I played with the boys. I learn to hunt for my food but my dad wouldn’t let me near a gun so I learn to bow hunt...

I moved up north with my husbands family

and I am constantly homesick. I miss cheer wine, grits, liver mush, family. Real friends. Fires in the back yard, the sounds of crickets and country music. Now all I hear are cars and the Hispanics blasting their music across the street. I can't escape the city. I want to write...

today our local sons of the confederacy held a

rally in protest of the removal of the confederate flag from our local battlefield. one that though a major battle few people know about. People say the flag is about racism so than why did at least 20 black people show up to the rally.
