recruit. He's a recruit until he gets that EGA then you can call him a marine all you want.

lol I'm audrey. I joined this group when my boyfriend re-enlisted (he was in the army and enlisted with the marines) in late August early September...we are STILL waiting for him to leave for boot, because he's prior service its a much lengthier and tedious process to go through than just enlisting your first go round...but he leaves this coming week (monday or tuesday) is what we have been told, but you never know...yet again.

but welcome, these girls are amazing and have lots of stuff to offer!!

I'm pretty new here.. But my recruit, Brett, was just sent to boot camp two weeks ago. I miss him terribly, but I know we will both make it through.

I found out last week though, that my two friends who have bfs in the marines too, have both gotten phone calls from their recruits, and I havent. Im really concerned. Do they have to earn the privelage of a phone call home? And if so, what do they have to do to earn it? I just really want to hear from him. And I feel like something is wrong since Im the only one that didnt get a phone call from my bf. Is he doing something wrong to not get that privelage?

Boot camp is crazy! He may still be able to call you or he may have called his mom or he may be in some idiot platoon that gets no priviledges at all. You may never know, keep writing him and encouraging him and keep your phone on!

thank you! I just got a letter from him yesterday. And in the letter he said that he will be getting a phone call soon, and that he is going to call me first. So now Im very happy. :) And he said he can write letters everyday now, so I can keep in touch and I write letters to him everyday my self. Thanks again for your input! :)

Hello. Im new to the site. And me and my boyfriend have been dating since 4-20-07. He is leaving August 24th for bootcamp at Parris Island. For 13 weeks! I am so depressed. I just recently got diagnosed with very bad depression from my Psychologist, and lately I have just been so stressed about him leaving and everything else in my life that I have been getting these huge headaches. My Blood pressure is sky high from my constantly thinking of everything. I have so many questions in my head but never get them out. Im so afraid I will lose him to some other girl but I know he wont. Its every marine girls worst nightmare, you always see it in the movies. So your constantly thinking what if thats me. I love him so much and right now all I need is my friends to keep me from going crazy and the support that I plan to share with others on this site and hope they share with me.

You aren't a marine girl nor a marine's girl. He's still a poolee. Then, he'll be a recruit. Then when they hand him that EGA, he will be a marine. And, you definitely need to suck it up now because this will be hard for him. You NEED to be strong. If you can't be, then a military relationship isn't for you and you need to start doing some serious thinking. Oh, and he won't even be around other girls at boot camp, so he won't cheat. And, why are you worried about him cheating anyways? If you trust him, it wouldn't be an issue.

y boyfriend just left for boot camp on june 29th. He wasn't supposed to leave until december so it all just kind of happened so fast. We found out he was leaving early a week before he was scheduled to leave so I feel like I wasn't prepared. We didn't get to do all the stuff we wanted to do before he left. We even had signed a lease for an apartment but we had to cancel it. We were supposed to move in the apartment in august but I can't get it without him. :/ I've been so sad and depressed the past week, I feel like a zombie. I just wasn't ready for him to leave, we wanted to be engaged before he left but obviously couldn't be due to short notice. We have been dating for almost two years and the longest we've been apart was a week and we talked everyday. I miss him a lot and haven't talked to him, he called his mom when he got there instead of me (which is fine of course). What is there to do without him? Everything makes me think of him then I get even more sad. Also does anybody know when he can start writing me letters? I feel like the letters would make me feel so much better.

Honestly, you should write an etiquette book on how to navigate the Marine Corps...for beginners....

My boyfriend and I will have been together for nine months and then he will leave for boot camp. It is my senior year, so he will be missing my prom, birthday, graduation, and our year anniversary. I want nothing more than to be with him, but I'm worried about the amount of time he will be gone. Once he gets back from basic training I will be leaving for college, so I will not get the chance to be with him much if any at all. I need some sort of reassurance or advice on my relationship. I know I want to stay with him, but it worries me. Any advice?

Hi, I'm new on here too. I'm trying to be strong on my own, and I'm tired of how no one understands whats goin on....so i thought I'd look up others who are going threw the same thing. =)

My recruite has been gone nearly a month, and I'm very proud of him for his courage and commitment. I try to write as often as I can, and I know he's busy, so I try not to worry when I dont hear back. But some recruits do get more time and phone calls after the first month, isnt that right?

Sorry yall, just really trying to keep my head above water
