I Am the Girlfriend of a Us Army Soldier Forum & Chat Board | how do all you girfriends of soldiers cope?

I am new to this, my boyfriend is having his interview on the 15th of June, and frankly im pretty scared, everyone share thoughts and tips :)

 To find out where he is going to be placed?

I cope with it by reminding myself how proud I am of him for what he's doing. I keep in mind that this is his job, and he loves what he's doing. If he loves it, I will too. It it makes him happy, well I'll pretend to be happy about it too!(;

He told me to think of him being away as him being on a business trip. And the people he is doing business with don't really like his ideas, so he has to stay for awhile and fight for his idea.

Helps keep my mind away from what he's really doing.

i usually look at pictures and remember our times together. i just count down the days till he comes home. we write to eachother and just let eachother know that everything will be okay and that no matter what we will always love and be with one another.

As the Army Girlfriend saying goes "Live Life Like Everyday the next day is Deployment." When he is home we go out and do lots of things like make videos and take thousands of pictures so when he is gone I look back at those things and it makes me feel like he is not dat far away and I send him some to help him feel the same. One day at a time is how I take it even though he is in Iraq it still feels like he is not that far at times.

When the going gets rough, you just have to be strong. Sometimes I look back and surprise myself with how much I have overcome and it just makes me feel like a stronger person, giving me more hope than I had yesterday. My experience, the first couple of months were hell, then I got more used to accepting the fact that I had to let go of him again and again...I always tell myself this; "Missing someone gets easier every day because even though it's one day further from the last time you saw each other, it's one day closer to the next time you will."
