1st IVF Cycle and worried about OHSS
I am 36 years old and I am nearing the end of an my 1st IVF Cycle Stim. I received a call from my RE today. He was concerned that I was responding too well to Stim medication. Today my Estrogen level was 4885 and it is only day 8 of stimulation. I had 24 follicles with several of them at 16mm and one at 17mm. My RE is cutting back on my medication for fear of OHSS. I have a history of PCOS. My RE has now discontinued my Follistim and is having me use Menapur 75 only twice daily and Ganirelix once daily. I have been feeling quite strange recently and figured it was the medications. Today I am feeling very bloated, my abdomen is extremely tender, I feel like I have something pushing up against my ribs and diaphragm. I feel slightly short of breath in the evenings. I feel like my ribs and kidneys hurt. My RE wants me to consider Cryo and implantation for next month. I am OK with this bit concerned about my current symptoms. I feel horrible and I haven't even made it to retrieval yet. My RE is thinking that we will do the retrieval by Wednesday. He has changed my trigger shot from HCG to Lupron. I am horrified of the possibility of getting OHSS. I heard of women who get it after implantation and a positive pregnancy. I have also read that some women get it after retrievsl even though tgey have put off implantation. I don't know if you can develope it before retrieval. Has anyone else experienced this as well? |
