Along with studying The Craft one will find information along the way that will suit their own magical needs. That is where a Book of Shadows comes in. A witches book of shadows is a storage area for all of his/her magical writings. From prayers, to chants, to spells and correspondences...it all goes in there. It's her own private reference book to use throughout the years. And each year there will always be more added to it. In this article I will provide you with the basics of what I was taught to put into my book of shadows. Really it is up to you what goes in there. No book of shadows is the same, for no Witches path is similar either. You may either purchase a book of your choice, it can be composed on the computer or even put together in a three ring binder. No matter how you do it, as long as it works then it will be very beneficial to you. Most witches are required to have one, or are lucky enough to have one passed down to them. Below I shall list a brief and basic outline of what could very possibly benefit you to have in your book of shadows.

  1. Book blessing

  2. Wiccan Rede

  3. Threefold Law

  4. Charge of the Goddess

  5. Charge of the God

  6. Sevenfold blessing

  7. 13 Wiccan Principles

  8. What Wicca Means to you

  9. What Witchcraft Means to you

  10. The Sabbats

  11. Esbat's

  12. Color Correspondences

  13. Herbal Correspondences

  14. Moon Phases

  15. Astrological Signs (both in general and according to each moon phase)

  16. Magical Days of the week

  17. As well as your own personally crafted spells and such

This is only a fraction of what will possibly go into your Book of Shadows. It is only set here as a guideline to those of you who are just now entering this study and would like to begin your book of shadows soon. Study the different types of Witchcraft, all the various stems of Wicca and see what feels right to you. What connects with you and interests you most. Then take those interests and beliefs and bring them to your BOS. Your BOS is a big part of you and your path and must have within it all the contents you need for your practice. Hope this helped, and if any of you have any further questions, feel free to contact me at any time! Blessed Be!

I have no idea what I've put in my BoS,
seems like u're a pro about these witchy stuff, eh?
=)
See, I really need ur help, hurm...
I'm not Christian, and I'm from Malaysia, but my point is I'm so into Witchcraft.
Now, I need sombody to help me go through this because I don't think that there's any Wiccan here in Malaysia, well, it's a Muslim nation here.

I still wondering, how can someone, a human being, get touched to this side, nature side.

Hope for ur reply coz I can say that I'm desperate now (hehe) .

Thank u so much for ur help.

Hi Zuan. I was lucky to run into people in my community that already read learned and put into practice their wiccan ways, so i caught on pretty quick. Your abilities are already with you, they are just hiding, and once you open the door to this natural understanding, you will pick up a lot more. I started with meditations, just even slowing down your breathing, maybe a fragrance or incense for aroma therapy, and just feel your connection between your subconsciousness, your conscience, your soul, and your body. It is amazing! once you understand your own energy and what it can do,  you can practice with things in nature, you can feel their life vibrations, even rocks and dirt have it.
Good luck, and be careful. in America, we have the right to our choice of religion, and its still hard to tell people, or practice our ways in public without conflict. Blessed be my friend!

great list btw Quin. mine "table of content" was similar actually, which i found sort of interesting. must just be natural to want to remember those sorts of things about what we do. I liked seeing the difference and going to add them. I have one that might be an added one, how about methods of health and wellness. like different types of meditations are healing exercises?
