I Believe In Love Forum & Chat Board | does true love exist?

now this is a question worth discussing.Does true,unselfish love exist?I say yes,and challege any to give me proof i'm wrong.

true,but the question is,do you believe in it's existence?That anyone could.For so many are self-involved nowadays.Think mostly first of themselves and second of the one they say they love.

even after we're long gone,love will remain i believe.Its like when they say,if a tree falls in a forest with no-one around does it still makes a sound?

Love

In the Old Testament Solomon in his Song of Songs describes a love that is strong as death. Then in the New Testament John in one of his letters says God is Love. The Bible’s over all themes is that God is all and all. That Love is all and all! This would mean to me that Love is the one and only thing that is eternal and will last forever. Long after we are all dust Love will still be there. The love we can share now in our lives will always be.  



The thing that stands in the way of this real love is our idea of self. Our own self thinking and will has the power to choose or reject this everything-ness. Love is the stuff of existence and this same stuff is inside all of us, through us and is all around us. It’s our thinking that can become the obstacle. And when this self mind thinking is put aside or suspended people touch love they touch the divine. That’s why this is can be so scary and involves so much ecstasy. I’m convinced love is not a feeling or emotion, the feelings and emotions are cause by being touch by this eternal divine.  

When this type of whole love is between people it’s something that will last forever.  Love or the divine can’t be measured or pieced up. It’s not in some measurement or more here then there. Those kinds of measurements and judgments are the work of our mind and self.  

Wrong ideas of what love is can be very harmful to a person’s life. People get very confused about what love really is and our current media only perpetuates wrong ideas and false hopes. I know so many people that just can’t figure out why love doesn’t happen to them. For me it’s easy to see that self is just simply in the way. The Self framework is a normal natural function used to relate to existence. But it’s always after the fact of what’s happening. A reflective knowing of what’s already gone by us. The saying “you never know what you have until it’s gone” is a perfect example of this reflective process thinking. To really know Love one needs to get beyond this after the fact thinking and directly live in the moment of what is. And what is, Is Love. When we love beyond self we love as existence loves. More so we become this existence and become love, That God is all and all; it’s an event and a happening. It’s always here and now and will be forever. 

 

Love is a choice and we have control of how much of this we allow into our lives. When we realize the reality of what love is, we allow this eternal stuff of existence to flow not only in us but through us and join us together. With this kind of love we love unconditionally. In this love we fully and wholly accept each other as we really are.  For me Love is a true gift, it can only be given freely and never expecting a return. Any return is then a gift.

I liked your way how you describe real love but i want to ask you , do you believe that there is real love today ? for me i don't think so coz all my experiences till now push me to say that . I hope to be wrong but that's what happening with me till now.  

i believe that true love does exist. i would say that true love is mutual love. my idea of mutual is the love that is equal; i love him as much as he loves me. with all our hearts. that is true, that is selfless.

yeah,.I'd say it does exist,.however, more often in a platonic sense e.g. friends, next of kin etc. Romantic love on the other hand has that inherint 'mindfuck' that kinda negates the selflessness.

spoken as a true cynic ! I hope I'm wrong. It would suck to be 19, be a cynic and be proven right to be so, which is sadly my case I think

yeah u r rite..true love exist..once i am on the way to my office, there was a dead dog on the road, near by there was a another dog.. may be his friend or his love. there was a heavy traffic...but the dog does not move a bit from that dead dog and he was wandering here and there, so that he could do something to save that dead one. But it was of no use. it was really heart touching.

wow, this is a question I have asked many times, but I was never saticfied with  the answers i got back. it don´t feel right to me when people explains it like a series of kemical reactions.I didn´t know what to belive. I still don´t know, stuff like this have to be experienced and thought through before you can be shore, but this felt like the most right answer for me, It feels right, so logycal. the way you explained love is the same way that I explain god myself. I haven´t read it somewere I just did my own conclusion after many years of thinking. I also think that god is more like an energy, an energy that is so great that you can´t  explain it or put it in words or show it in other ways, you feel god, just like you feel love.

but what if you love someone very much and you break up, and you are not sure about you´re feelings towards this person, so you belive that you always will be inlove with this guy? do you love him still?

I feel a certain love towards the people, the humans from time to time, but what is it that makes you love some people more than others?

True love does exist and I am living proof of that!!  I am married and our love is unconditional no matter what happens we are always there for each other.  We put each other first and everything comes after that and for that I am truly blessed.  We complete trust in each other so we don't have petty arguments caused by envy or jealousy.  Not saying that we don't have disagreements no one is perfect.  If you  don't what i am telling you is true I have started a blog about my relationship that he also reads everyday with all the details.  See for yourself. http://lovestruggleandmarriage.blogspot.com/
