I Can Disagree With You, And Still Love You

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 885 People

    Disagreement is a good thing.

It makes the world versatile and interesting. I love to learn from others. If I don't agree entirely with someone's opinion, the parts I do agree with can be inspiring. And the parts I don't agree with enforce my own opinion because it reminds me that the other options don't...

    Yeah, I Still Do..

    Opinions are simply opinions,

nothing more. Just because I disagree with you on something, doesn't mean I shouldn't love and care about you like I did before then. Besides people who are close to each other should have disagreements every once in awhile. If not then something's being hidden.

I wish more people saw this.

It seems that most people who realize that someone disagrees with them, they instantly see them as their enemy....

You are wrong, yes you are.

I know it's selfish to ask you for things and get angry when you don't do it but that's where you have to take a step and show me that you love me. Don't just say but prove it by doing what I asked for or at least convince me why you couldn't. I don't ask for everything all the...

    My Friends And I...

I'm a conservative, non-denominational Christian. You'd think my friends and family, and I, wouldn't get along, would you? Wrong-O! I get along with them all, no matter what I think about their decisions. One of my aunts is lesbian. One of my aunts puts WAY too much stock in...

    Agree To Disagree...

For me personally, this statement is very true. I really don't have to make everyone agree with me to be happy in this life. But this story is going to focus mostly on my wife. The one thing that has killed me throughout our entire marriage (12 years) to this point has been...

Because You Are A Human Being And You Deserve To Be Accepted And Loved

It's okay if we disagree. Our unique experiences have led us to form opposite opinions on the matter at hand. But you are a human, a living creature with thoughts, feelings, needs, and a right to be accepted and loved unconditionally. And I will be happy to give you that. Even if...

So, I go to church and my boyfriend doesn't.

People typically say this is bad. I'm working on it though. We do believe in the same things. Which is good. My boyfriend finally agreed to let me take our child to church. I'm really happy about this, to be honest.

    John Wesley And George Whitefield

The term "agree to disagree" was first put into print by John Wesley in 1770, in a memorial sermon for his friend George Whitefield. Wesley and Whitefield were very good friends but had many philosophical differences concerning Christianity.

I lean left, he leans right.

Not necessarily a dealbreaker. Remember Mary Matalin and James Carville? . He believes, I'm skeptical. Not necessarily a dealbreaker. Mark Twain was a skeptic and his wife was a believer. . I like rock, he likes rap. OK....NOW we might have a problem, ha ha!
