I Cannot Stand "I Support Our Troops" Ribbons

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 91 People

    What I Don't Like Is..

Often the magnets will say "Support Our Troops."  Not "I support our troops" or "our family supports our troops" or "this SUV supports our troops."  It's about forcing other people to a) support a war that few people in this...

I Do Not Support Our Troops

I don't wish harm upon them, and I know that the majority have good intentions, but I cannot support or respect what they're doing.  In fact, it sickens me.  If our soldiers refused to fight, there would be no war.

    Someone Stole Mine!!!

The newest Support ribbon that I have seen is one that said, "Some one stole my Support Our Troops ribbon." They think that because they have thos kind of ribbons on their car they support the troops but then you see them doing something that is a disgrace to the military way of...

I dont think anyone here should be saying whether or not sporting that ribbon is or isnt patriotic. If bein patriotic means dodging bullits then go do it,but dont claim to be patriotic if thats what you say it takes and you are just sitting behind your computer. Maybe the person...

    They've Calmed Down. ...

They've calmed down.  In the past though, they became pretty obnoxious. It just seemed like a way for people to gain some sort of profit off of the latest war.

    Cheap, Phony Patriotism

Those magnetic "ribbons" on cars everywhere make me mental.  Usually they're on the biggest, gas-guzzling monsters driven by tiny power-yuppies.  Don't these people realize that the troops are dying (3,000+) to fuel these monstrosities?  If these people...

This May Come As A Surprise!

I support our troops; of course I do as I am part of a military family, but I do not like the "I support our troops ribbons". I have, in the past, posted the yellow  ribbons on my car; however I have changed my thoughts on them lately. I think if the ribbons were given freely or...

I just think there is more to it than ribbons! Wanna really support then when I come to you for donations for items to send them care packages or even something as simple as our "Postcards from Home" that we do each year. So many say they support but when it comes down...

    Just Obnoxious

I see those magnetic ribbons as a way for people to feel like they are doing something without actually having to do anything.  They can parade around and say, "look, see?  I support the troops... I'm a patriot!!  Look at me!"  But when was they last...

The One I Loathe Is: "God Bless Our Troops"

But not theirs?  God help our troops to be the better killers. Don't get me wrong I would hope that we never lost a life in this silly play for power. Nor would I hope to see them lose lives. But certainly I don't think we need to use the "God" propoganda to gain...

    Thank You!

Some times it feels like maybe I'm too picky with everything, but, c'mon people, make a ******* statement.  We all support the troops.  Even us candy *** liberals.  We support them so much that we want them back home with their families.  These were...

"Support the troops". I hate people who hide behind this phrase. It's so hollow. What is that even supposed to mean? Are they volunteering at a veterans hospital? I doubt it Do they want them to come home safely? I really do. But do they? From the...

    FUEL Plz!!!!

I think there is a brutal irony with slapping a piece of unnecessary metal on your gas guzzler vehicle that says you support your troops. It sort of says to me "Get me some oiiiiillll in Iraq boys! Momma's gotta drive her Suv!!!"

It's Supporting The War I Am Against, Not The Troops So Much.

I don't support war's in foreign countries that the US has no business butting there nose into..though, I WISH THE TROOPS WELL, it's the war I am against. But I am tired of the US gov't playing police to the rest of the world....and I am an american, in case your wondering.The...

    Nothing Nice to Say...

I have a special hate for these things because of how cute and trendy they are. As a veteran, they're especially offensive because the people who sport them didn't seem to give a hoot before, but a dumb little magnet is supposed to make it all better.  Go volunteer at...
