I Can't Sleep With the Lights On

What's stopping you from sleeping with the lights on? Is it a pet peeve of yours? 522 People

One of My Biggest Pet Peeves

Sleeping with the lights on is one of my biggest pet peeves out of all of the pet peeves I have. I can take a nap in the afternoon with sunlight beaming through the window but can't sleep with lights on at night. Weird, I know but the rays from the sunlight makes me even more...

    You Are My Night-time

I'm much more relaxed in the dark.  Having the light on makes me end up looking and something or being distracted by a task left undone, until I'm driven insane and have to get up and finish it.  It's the best way for my eyes to rest. I've felt more secure in the...

    Pillow On Face

When lights are turned on and I'm sleeping i just bury my face into something. When i was young and would have sleep overs i hated keeping lights on. I was never afraid of the dark...i preferred it. I would leave my friends in a room with a light on so i could sleep in the dark...

    Silence and the Dark

I use to have a night light and that was okay, but now I have to have it pretty much pitch black in my room so that I can sleep, if any lights are on, or if theres any sound, I just cannot sleep. That's how I am.

Yet, I can fall asleep in daylight.

Lights keep me awake, sleeping in a room that is bright with sunshine is no problem at all.

    Like It Dark

I don't know what it is, but when I go to sleep I need for it to be dark. If I am unable to turn out the lights I even have a sleep mask to put me in the dark!

    Weirdly

Well for the longest part of my life, I HAD to have some kind of light on ... even the faintest one. I was too scared to sleep in the dark, lol. But now - and for awhile now - I have to have like pitch blackness, otherwise I will roll around and it will take...

    Troubles

I can't sleep with the lights or tv on.  Because my roommate is still up by the time I'm ready for bed, I usually only request to turn one or the other off, and sometimes both.  She always says it's okay to do so, but she won't turn them off unless I ask her. ...

If The Lights Are Right In Front Of My Eyes,

If the lights are right in front of my eyes (as in 1cm) I can't sleep. Other than that, I can sleep in ANY condition.

    When I Was Younger

When I was younger I had to sleep in complete darkness. As I've gotten older, I can't fall asleep without watching tv. The light and the sound make me go to sleep.

    I Can't

I can't sleep with the lights, TV, radio on.  The room needs to be dark, no noise.  If I notice a little sunshine, I'll wake up.  My body reflex are sensitive to these things.

    Darkness And Silence

I prefer total darkness, absolute silence and comfort as i'm a very light sleeper, i never dose off even when i'm really tired if there are lights on.

    The Lamp and my "Insomnia"

My name is Yuu (pronounced "you") and I suffer from Insomnia. No, I don't really have insomnia---but that's what I "jokingly" call what I'm experiencing. I live in a dorm room with my roommate and we each have our own habits and such. I like to get my studies done early in the...

    I Even Hide...

I can't sleep with any light at all...not even a slither. Darkness is especially difficult for me to maintain in my bedroom. I hardly sleep now that there's a multi level car park, mall and supermarket being constructed behind my unit complex. AAARGH. Lights and construction...

    I wake up with light

and nature noises, so it is not shocking that I cannot remain asleep if I have my lights on in my house. I wake up maybe one to a few hours later if I fall asleep with my lights above me on. I always have my standing lamp on though. It is not that bright. It gives just enough...

    That's Me!

I use to be able to go to sleep no matter what was going on.  But I guess now that I'm older, I have to have all the lights off and very little sound.  I just sleep better that way, I suppose. I can still take a nap under any circumstances, but I can't get a full-night...
