I just saw the new documentary when it came out on the fourth, and I recommend it to anybody who wants to find out more about the guy, or isn't aware of how much influence he really had on society.

    The Edge

The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. Hunter S. Thompson

By pure chance I picked up Fear and Loathing in Los Vegas in the early 70s. I was immediately hooked. The dude was crazy but he could sure spin a good story. Suicide should never be celebrated, but in his case it seemed like an appropriate way to go.

    He Went Undercover

He wrote a book about the Hell's Angels that I read and found extremely interesting and informative when I was in seventh grade in 1966-67. He'd joined the motorcycle club as a member for the purpose of writing the book, and I've admired Hunter Thompson ever since my reading...

    Marathon running, like golf,

is a game for players, not winners. That is why Callaway sells golf clubs and Nike sells running shoes. But running is unique in that the world's best racers are on the same course, at the same time, as amateurs, who have as much chance of winning as your average weekend warrior...
