I realize that commenting on this will probably

make me appear to be a snob, but incorrect spelling and grammar irks me. I have one of those brains that sees the errors easily. Perhaps I should be an editor. It seems to me that people should remember that anytime they post something on Experience Project they are publishing...

    OCD to Correct Misspelling

In fact, I am so annoyed by misspelled words I will often not join a group simply because its title is spelled incorrectly or the grammar is poor.   I have felt the urge to even message the moderator or creator of said groups just to request that they please (somehow...

    Let's Get Victorian

When I get most angry, I tend to get very, very precise in my grammar and word choice.  I also tend to drop all contractions from my speech. I've found that when I'm arguing in a text-based medium, such as online, it's apparently rather intimidating.  Certain of my...

    And Now...

The airplane was in the hanger, it's insignias that of a private jet. (Jet fuel is also known as Kerosene). The data is clear, this is a jet that can get off of the ground in a hurry, fast enough to break the sound barrier. Once, a stunt pilot even flew it backwards, he set a new...

    An Occupational Hazard

As someone who has always made at least part of a living by writing, my most important tool is the English language, and I like to see it treated well.My parents gave me the Oxford English Dictionary -the full 12-volume edition, which took 150 years to compile- for my 21st...

the couple summed up the reason for their long and happy marriage. The husband said, "I have tried never to be selfish. After all, there is no "I" in the word 'marriage.'" The wife said, "For my part, I have never corrected my husband's spelling.

How much extra time would it take to proofread things? Two minutes? One really can have spellcheck on his or her computer, and why ignore it? What do you have to lose? Would you really be doing yourself any harm by making yourself a bit easier to understand?

That's a nice way to put it.

When I read posts by people who blatantly disregard grammar and punctuation, I can't take them seriously and I honestly don't think very highly of them either.

I recently joined a group, "I Believe That One Person Can Change You're (sic) Whole Life" -- and I have to wonder if it really applies because I would never say "You're Whole Life." EP is replete with spelling and grammatical mistakes. Some are surely the result of autocorrect...
