    It has been 8 months

since my last donation, 4 months from first time ever rejection due to low hemoglobin level. I have an oversea trip soon to Malaria risk area and will need to wait another 4 months. Sometimes I wish I was born as a guy just to donate blood / bone morrow or whatever I want...

I used to but I am now too old to be allowed to

do it. I am not only sure it helps other people but I think is is good for one's health. Centuries ago blood letting was a major treatment for lots of things.

Donating blood does a number on me.

It leaves me weak and tired, and it also makes me feel colder than a block of ice. It's so draining, but I love doing it. I can save so many lives by donating blood.

    about two days ago actually.

I got excited to donate because it was my first time and I'm just weird that way. and right after the paperwork and the mini needle prink which thank god came unexpectedly because I'm not a big fan of needles. so then I was like oh yeah big recliner chair can't be that bad as...

    I Love Giving Back!

Ever since I was 17, I've tried to give blood every 10-12 weeks. I have a very large family and I know that with some of my brothers' reckless behavior, they will inevitably need my blood. I am O Rh D- so therefore a "universal donor". Plus, how can you refuse Sunny D and...

Sometimes The Silver Lining In A Dark Cloud

I try to donate whole blood every eight weeks, and I have been mostly successful at doing that for the past 22 years. Recently, I changed employers and accepted a traveling job. From week to week, I did not know where I would have to be, and it made finding a mobile donation...

    I Love It.. Well, Kinda

I really like what I can do for others and as soon as I turned 17 I wanted to give blood. I finally did two months ago. It was really nerve-recking but I feel so much better. I always want to find ways to make a difference. I don't have money, but I have blood. I am actually O...

    I have donated blood

since I was 18. It's a good feeling to know that as all that blood leaves me, I could be saving three people. I have given over a gallon of blood in the ten years I've been donating. I even have the pin to prove it!

I am overdue to give blood but am scheduled to do so tonight. My parents and several of my friends are not able to donate so when I do, I feel that I am doing it for them.    One of those friends recently had an operation and needed 2 units of blood.  She thanked me as a...

    I have been giving blood

since there was a drive at my high school some 7 years ago. I went to donate recently, and was turned away for something I never considered before. I'm outraged over it and I wish I could take it to a forum where it would gain more momentum, but sadly this is a very personal...

I couldn't attend my favorite drive this year.

It is called Rock N' Roll Up Your Sleeve (hosted by a local radio station.) Man you meet the most interesting people there. Oh well...maybe next year! 10 more years (minimum) till I reach the 10 gallon club.

Or rather, I donateD - quite a lot too.

Would still be doing so now if it wasn't for regulatory changes then forbidding any more on the basis that I'd had a transfusion myself (before screening was introduced). Disappointing. Used to feel physically more alert and lighter after too. My way of giving back what I'd...

    Why I Donate Blood.

I am proud to say that I donate blood. I'm on their call list whenever they are in my town. In Canada, you don't get paid to donate blood. That's ok since I would never accept it. I am doing it for personal reasons. Trust me.... I don't have a love affair with needles. I...

    You Can Too!

I started donating blood after 9/11, and, excuse my tooting my own horn, but I recently got my five-gallon pin. I've always felt it was important to donate, but when my mom needed 10 or 11 blood transfusions during the last year of her life, that really brought the point home...

The blood you donate gives someone another

chance at life. One day that someone may be a close relative, a friend, a loved one—or even you.

About once in three months, I go with my friends to the local blood donation spot (what is it actually called?) and we chat, ferociously abuse the change to eat free food and lighheartedly tease the needle fearing members of our small group. And donate blood, of course. It's so...

    Donating blood is easy,

and not that painful. Just imagine, you could save someone's life tomorrow, by donating today. If you're ever in the operating room, keep in mind that someone else could save your life too. Pass the good will forward.
