I Donated My Hair to Locks of Love

    It's a Goal

Right now, my hair isn't long enough to donate the minimum length.  I still have to grow my hair about 6 inches before I get to that point....but as soon as my hair gets to that 10 inches I need, I'm heading to the salon to get it cut so I can send it to LOL =)

    Oh :(

Last summer I had hair that was a good twelve/fourteen inches long from the bottom of my shoulders. I decided to cut it all off. A week after I cut it I was told about LOL from an American exchange student, I didn't think much of it however until I saw it on America's Next Top...

January 2012 I donated a little over a foot of

hair (I think 14 inches). :) Now two years later my hair has grown back all the way and I'm planning to donate again. But when it's a bit more long because (1) I don't want to cut my hair as short as last time and (2) I want to be able to donate more.

    Donated Twice. :)

I donated my hair for the first time two years ago. I had originally planned to cut my hair to donate to make a wig for my best friend, who at the time was undergoing chemotherapy and lost most of her hair. Before the chemo, she had the most beautiful hair-- black, thick, curly...

    15 Inches

Two weeks ago I chopped off my hair and donated it for the 3rd time. This time I got a shorter hair cut than before so I was able to donate 15in. That's the longest ponytail I've sent in. I must admit that even though I didn't really do anything except not cut my hair for 18mo, I...

    I Felt So Good.

First, it felt good losing all that weight off my head, lol. Then it felt great knowing a kid out there would have a full head of my hair. The first time I did it I got a card from them telling me it was great that I donated but that I couldn't see who the child was. Bummer. The...

Just donated to Locks of Love for the 2nd time.  Only 10" this time, but last time it was 14".  I love the thought of being able to help kids in this quirky way.  It will take ~2.5 years to get my hair long enough again, but I'm game for it.  :O...

So I just had almost 22 inches of hair donated to Locks Of Love. I feel kind of naked lol. My hair was down to my butt and I'm rocking a chin length inverted bob now. I'm so glad I was able to donate to a good cause though. It's been a week and everyone is still so shocked to...

    10 Inches!

It was time.  For nearly 20 years I kept my hair anywhere from chin-length to elbow-length.  Nearing my mid-30s, I decided it was time to change.  I was going short...and I mean short.I had to ask the stylist what super-short style would look good on me; I had no idea in the...

    Elementary Tradition

My hair is extremely thick and grows pretty fast. So, when I was younger, every year and a half or so, I would get my hair cut. It was usually so long I could sit on it. When I left the salon it would be just brushing my shoulders, and a good fourteen inches or so were on...

I agree with you all that this foundation has (on the surface) noble intentions. However, when it came time for me to cut and donate my hair for the first time, I began doing a lot of research to find out which charity I would send mine off to. The shocking truth is that Locks of...

    A Family Event

My sister went first and cut hers really short... then myself, had hair to my back side and my daughter was third. It's a great organization and I'd do it again in a heartbeat! Oh but I do sometimes miss my very long, curly red hair! sniffle... it grows back. :)

I Donated My Hair, And Regret It.

I donated my hair to locks of love two and a half years ago, but I regret it. Recently I read an article online listing all the reasons it was likely to be a useless donation. I had had my hair long all through my childhood and was very nervous about losing it. I don't mind that...

My husband hates it every time I cut it but he understands why I do it. The first time it was 18", the second was closer to 14", this last time was about 12". I think I'll stop for a while though since he likes my hair long like this.

I had been wanting to cut my hair for a while but just could not bring myself to do it. Then one day I just said this is the day and went to Cost Cutters and said I want to donate as much as I could. I have very thick hair so it was 2 big ponytails of over 16 inches each.
