I Dont Believe That Addiction Is a Disease

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 88 People

I'm a addict that goes from one habit to

I think addiction is difficult to control,

but I don't think it's a disease. Disease is a plague, not a personal struggle. That being said, I am an addict. I have will power and I am determined not to give in ever again. You don't have to call it a disease for it to be taken seriously.

    Not Likely

I believe that addiction is a choice.  You choose to become addicted and you choose to stay there.  A disease to me is something that is out of your control to stop.  You can't just wake up one day and say, "I will no longer have diabetes, starting today"...
