I Dont Have to Drink to Have a Good Time

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 682 People

I don't HAVE to, but I enjoy it.

I don't HAVE to take drugs, but I enjoy them too. I am perfectly capable of having a good time without these things. I'm not broken. But I do enjoy a good party.

In fact I tend to not drink to have a good time.

A number of health issues as well as the fact that drinking costs too much and makes me feel awful combine to many "dry" nights out with friends for me. I usually get roped in as a taxi service but I don't mind because it means free soft drinks all night and usually money for...

    Enjoying Life

I know that I dont have to drink to have fun. I have seen and witnessed what people do when they are drunk or buzzed and I always tell myself that I act like that sober. So why drink! lol. Besides at least I can enjoy the moment and still remember it the very next day. People that...

    No Harm Done

I don't drink alcohol at all. When it's offered to me and I decline sometimes people ask why. I tell them I just don't and I get funny looks. I sometimes give a half-hearted explanation of "my dad was an alcoholic" and most of the time they continue to look at me funny and say...

I Can Have a Good Time!!!

The after taste if alcohol or the taste of it altogether disgusts me. I can have fun without it. Haven't you ever heard of crack? lol.. Na, I'm probably the one that drives every drunk friend home, making sure that everyone gets home safely. After all, friends don't let friends...

What Do You Honestly Expect At a Party?

Not alcohol that's for sure. I've always thought and been this way. I HATE that alcohol has now become automatically paired with partying. When I want to throw a party or get invited to one, am I just naive in thiking... that I'm not thinking about getting drunk? I have never...

    Water, Please.

I might sip a little red wine once every blue moon, but no, I pretty much never drink if I'm out at a party or something. One reason is I don't really like the taste of alcohol anyway. Other reasons are for health issues. I don't even like drinking caffeinated stuff.

    I Don't

I don't have to drink to have a good time. I think people that say they drink to socialize are just trying to please others around them and doing it for show. I won't drink, and go beyond my character to make any one else around me think I'm something I'm not. I can have a great...

Taste like crap, feel like crap.

..and people tell me I'll get used to it. FYI I don't have to. I have no intention to put poison in my body. It's just annoying when people think I need to drink to "have fun" with them. Apparently, there's no other entertaining activity aside from drinking when people hang out...

I'm twelve so I cant legally drink

but I've had a few sips here and there. I've also seen drunk behavior and hangovers and have decided its not worth it. Some coffee and sugar are all i need. They actually taste good and cost less and dont have hangovers, but they do make you tired, but who cares. Coffee and...

    I've stopped the little drinking

that I did and stopped smoking cigarettes, it was an easy decision because I wasn't gaining anything from it, I'd rather be having a good time with my family and siblings then being out, there's so much more beneficial and good things to do for yourself

I have a lot more fun now, as a non-drinker than I ever did when I did partake of the alcohol*.   I laugh so much more than I did before but it is simple, good, honest laughter.  Laughing at life, laughing generally about "stuff".   Not drunken, laughing at nothing laughter...

    Not Anymore

Those wild drunken party days are all behind me man. I just can't deal with the hangovers and the way my body hates me for drinking the next day, anymore. Plus...I discovered I am hilarious sober also, that's like a gift!

Nor Has It Been My Cup Of Tea For A Long Time Now

I don't drink.  Period.  Just my choice. I used to drink.  Most of the time when I drank I wouldn't say I had a good time, only two or three times.  I think it had as much to do with the company I kept as the drink in my hand. I can have a good time when I...

I don't drink alcohol and I never will. I've seen what it can to do a person and what it can do to a family, namely mine. Both of my parents are alcoholics and it hurts me to see them drowning there misery with the bottle. I can relate to them, in that I do the same with self...

I hate alcohol, I hate the taste, the smell, and the way it makes people act! I think needing alcohol to have fun might even indicate a lack of imagination.  I can get all goofy and come up with wacky ways to have fun without a drop of alcohol.  I just let my thoughts wander...

    Don'T Need To

I love hanging out with my friends and even just by myself in town. The only times I do drink is on special occasions and when I'm trying to learn more about a specific kind of liquor. And even then I don't normally swallow.

Actually, I Like to Remember the Fun I've Had

I have a blast doing little things in life. I like to dance and play. I like to run and hike and swim. I act silly with my grandkids, race my neices and nephews (and win), and paint, write, snap pics. I can find all kinds of ways to have fun without drinking and getting drunk...

It's rare for me to drink, I suppose I'm one of the few who don't like it. That meaning I don't like the taste of the booze. Not for me. Anything else I can find fun out of. Cats, Duct Tape, Coke, even a pen.

    Don't Like the Taste

I can find plenty of things to do to have fun other then getting drunk.  I don't like the taste of it anyway.  Now it is fun to be the sober one watching the other drunks.  That is if they stay happy.  I don't like angry drunks.
