I don't know what to say and all I do is smile.. I don't even feel like m doing anything different ... I m just trying to be there for them because I believe we need that listening ear... Just someone they can feel comfortable ... I feel proud at a times that I m valued so much...

    Today while at the Masseuse,

the ladies at the desk commented about how pretty I am. As a middle-aged divorced father of two, very few things can be more flattering. I smiled and said "thank you!" not knowing how else to respond.

I don't know how to handle compliments.

I think it's just the way I've been brought up - humility is a value treasured in Asian culture... and this was drilled into us since we were children - always deny praise. Plus every family gathering would be like Asian humility bootcamp, with all the backward compliments you...

I can neither give nor receive compliments.

I understand that proper etiquette is to return a compliment with a compliment, but for years all I've done was keep my head down and stay silent, which leaves little time for practice. But I've been getting a lot of compliments lately, and I've been looking like an a...

I honestly don't think I deserve any of them.

If someone compliments me I either rudely ignore what they say, deflect to something else or give an unenthusiastic thanks. It can be a compliment on anything, how I look, how I do my job or anything else.

When a guy friend compliments me I am usually

pretty sassy as a joke, like I'll say something like "I know" and the flip my hair and do an awful model walk for a few feet. But once my crush compliments me, I usually say "thanks" and compliment them back or turn away awkwardly and blush, or I'll say "I appreciate the lie."

I just don't know how to take compliments.

Either my anxiety gets the best of me and I think the person is up to something (or wants something), or I think they are lying. I feel that I have mastered the awkward thank you and smile. I'm trying to learn how not to read to much into it, and how to graciously accept it.
