Oh God, I Hate Songs With Prof...

Oh God, I hate songs with profanity. Of course, sometimes they have nice melodies or so and I listen to them. But I just have to sing when I listen to music. One reason why I can't listen to instrumentals. I just have to sing. All I know is I feel better when I sing. And when I...

I don't mind songs with profanity in them. Although, I wouldn't want to hear a curse every 2 seconds throughout the whole thing.

Profanity Vs. Vulgarity and the Poets of the Days of Old

vulgarity and profanity are two different things.  i cuss.  i don't know many adults who don't.  very few in fact.  but i don't believe vulgarity is necessary.  there are other words one could utilize to get the point across and it makes the song that...

    i Dislike Profanit...

i dislike profanity in ANYTHING. To me it shows a lack of education, you can SO easily get your point across, just as strongly, without swearing. My mother feels the same way UNTIL you put her on a golf course and then i on't know who she is?lol

    How Articulate Are You?

Profanity is a turn-off. People who use it must not be very articulate.

    But I'm Torn

most of the artists I listen to on a regular basis that do occasionally use profanity use it to convey extreme emotion that other words can't convey. I usually prefer the songs without profanity, but when a song is written a certain way, it is written to be that way, and...

I Like Songs That Have Profanity In Them

I get bugged alot because I refuse to listen to music that has profanity in it. I like my country music ALOT. I get called a Hick or Redneck. One DOES NOT need to have swearing or other stuff like sex or drugs to get the point of the song across. I maybe be oldfashion...

    Usually I Don't Like It

Usually I don't like it but there is one exception: **** you from Eamon. The music of this song is very good, so I forgive the words. But the lyrics are important, too. So mostly I don't listen to music with words like this.

    It Irritates Me

It's rare that I hear a song with dirty or vulgar langauge in it where it isn't overdone or distatefully done. Swearing is meant to convey particularly strong emotion, not to up the "shock value" of one's latest music video. The worst thing to happen to art has been...

I feel like, what is the point of using

profanity when the English language is so vast that we have so many adjectives and verbs. It's just really silly to me. I'm a nerd.

Yeah, exactly, man.  Why bother?  It's supposed to be shock value, I suppose, but all it means to me is that you don't have sufficient vocabulary to express what you really want to say.  Take Mysitkal: I LOVE his music; but I can't listen to it, for all the p***y...

    Songs With Profanity

Actually, I usually don't mind those songs, but sometimes it bothers me. For example, in James Blunt's "You're Beautiful", the lyrics are all gentle and full of longing, until in the middle he suddenly says "*******", and it's totally out of place. Ugh.

    Does It Really Matter?  I...

Does it really matter?  If the song is crap, no amount of swearing will make it any less crap.  I say swear away, if it works within the context of the song.  Just don't play it so loud on your mp3 player that everyone else on the bus, train etc can hear it...

    I Don't

I think so much more can be said without. Now, there are some songs, mainly country, where they fit just right and don't sound profane. (A Charlie Daniel's song comes to mind.) I don't like them generally. I don't use them when I talk. Unless I bash my thumb with a hammer or...

    Filler Words.

I don't hate curse words because their somehow offensive, but rather that some of them are so topical...Just thinks about how many ways the "f-word" can be used in.I believe that precision of language is the key to a peaceful and successful society.Just imagine if every...
