I Don't Think a College Degree Always Indicates Intelligence

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 3,605 People

A college degree no longer has true meaning,

or intrinsic value. A college degree does not mean what it used to mean; it does not hold the same weight. Looking back 40 years ago or so, the amount of people with college degrees made up a small percentage of society. Therefore, a college degree was more meaningful because it...

Nope. I don't personally know people with

degrees but I've heard stories and, more importantly, I've known some dumb honor/AP students when I was at school. It just seems, as is my hypothesis, that these people make the effort and/or have the talent for an area or so of expertise but the rest of their head is unused...

College degree indicates you are a sheepo.

..later what you do with it is the real question, your real skills and how you apply the knowledge.

There is fine thin line between knowledge

and education. Once you comprehend this line, you can balance both; because we are well aware of the fact that 'Intelligence is not the ability to store information for time being and forget it later.' While I had been away from education for quite some time, my passion for...

College Is A Means To An End, Not A Measure Of Intelligence.

I went to college for a year. I hated every second. The people there were no more intelligent than I was yet they acted superior and pretentious. The classes didn't teach the way I learned and had standards that made no logical sense to me. I spent a lot of time studying and...

Definitely agree! I am in college myself,

but it does not determine how you apply yourself in the work place! I disagree with all these standardized testings and such -.- Everyone doesn't learn and apply themselves the same.. clearly.

This is so true and I'll explain why.

A diploma is just a sheet of paper or back in the day goat skin. It has no true indication of anything but a person can memorize and spew out what they are supposed to at a certain time. Intelligence is what shows a person can take date and state an educated, non-emotional...
