I Don't Watch Soap Opera's

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 2,790 People

But Not Because I Look Down On Them

I don't watch soap operas anymore because they bore me.  I used to like them, and to an extent, I wish I could still get "into" the story lines. Unfortunately, I think I've grown out of them.  Oh, by the by: the title of this group is misspelled. ...

    Most Soap Opera's I Don't Watch!

I don't find most soap operas interesting. Except for one, which is the Young and the Restless. I love the show, although I find that, as most soap operas do, they undermind your intelligence, with a lot of the writing. But I get angry, stop watching for a period of time, then...

    Not Appealing

I just feel they tend to repeat story lines and just generally don't appeal to me at all. I get really fidgety if nothing exiting happens every 5 minutes. I watched an entire soap once ( well, was made to) and they mostly just sat around talking. I couldn't bear it at all.

I stopped watching it after getting bored. It took a year for the story to progress. I don't like waiting around for a half-assed story to get to the point, so I won't keep up with them anymore or start any new ones.

    Mexican Soap Operas

They dominate prime time in both networks, Televisa and TV Azteca. They are very formula driven. A few examples: 99.9% of them end in a church wedding and the audience's curiosity is to see what the bride is going to wear. The suspense is to see which suitor the heroine is going...
