The Summers on the West coast are hot and the bugs are everywhere..... the trails are packed with all the people and its almost a waste of time even going out unless you pack in really far into some of the wilderness areas. The Winter is best for me, usually movement on...

    Gambling

I was thinking yesterday, that without gambling, life is meaningless. The thought came to me, not at a gaming table in Vegas or at the track; It came to me standing 100' above the San Gabriel River. A ledge about 5" wide was where I was perched, studying the face of the canyon...

Did A 12 Day Trip This Summer

I had the chance to go with my son on a 65 mile trip this last summer.  It was in the mountains of northeast New Mexico.  Peaked at about 12,000 ft.  I was an unbelievable experience and it was so much more special because I was with my son.

    Into the Wild

I love to be out in nature. I especially enjoy camping alone. Not that fake wussy camping with all the ammenities and surrounded by others. I like to hike to a secluded spot away from the car and any other campers. There's nothing like being alone in the National Forest or...

    Arroyo Seco Canyon Is Open

I took some of my Cub Scouts on a hike up Arroyo Seco Canyon in Altadena, CA today.. We left about 7:30am and were at the trailhead 20 minutes later. The weather was mild and perfect for hiking. We hit the trail at 8:00am. Arroyo Seco has been open for two weeks after a nearly...
