Today I sweated during Tai Chi

for the first time. I don't think it was necessarily more difficult but I think it was due to all that tension of a very stressful day. I ha e the impression that I should not be sweating during Tai Chi. On the positive side my son luckily changed his mind about wanting to...

    I workout about 5 times a week 30-45 minutes

each day. It really does make a difference in all aspects of life. I wake up in the morning with energy and no back pain. I feel like I am more flexible and stronger. But most importantly my emotional state is much more positive than it was before. I may not always eat the best...

As it turns out my fear of plateau on strength

training was totally unfounded. I have today increased my weight for all exercises by 1lb each, up to 6.5lb for large muscle groups. It was a good workout and no problem. I think on Thursday I was just unusually tired and fretful, but today in good shape.

It will be 25th high school reunion next year

and it will be my first to attend. I was an academic head, a distant runner in HS, not popular and didn't have a boyfriend. I call myself a late bloomer. It will be a blast to see everyone I haven't seen since. No, I don't keep in contact. Life got busy: college, boyfriends...

This morning's abdominal exercises really hurt

my abs! In the evening I did the basic yoga session. Usually I can tell when I am doing better than usual, but this time I was surprised to find that I had beat my high score yet again. I guess I am doing well, though still cannot do so many of the harder variations on the poses...

My day is not complete without exercise,

I'm up at 4am every weekdays to get my motor into gear and by 5am I'm at the gym. Saturdays and Sundays are my lazy days, I pick a new spot, headphone on and run like forest. I rarely consume junk food, no fizzy or fast food. My mother is a health and exercise nut so eating...

In the morning I was very tired,

and so I did 30 minutes of step aerobics which was essentially like a brisk walk in place. In the evening tired again, I did 35 minutes of Tai Chi, mostly the moves called "Brush and Push" and "Hands Strum the Lute." At some point I found myself executing Brush and Push several...

10 minutes of these were warmup. Then for the next 30 minutes I was able to differentiate left and right and feel it, and I did much better than previously. During that time I did "Parting Wild Horse's Mane" and "White Crane Separates Its Wings". Alas for the final 25 minutes I...

Okay, I'll be honest with you.

I don't like exercise. Yes, some physical activities can be fun, like walking or dancing or sports, for example. But for me, if physical exercise wasn't necessary to be healthy, I'd probably never leave the couch. Actually, forget the couch. I'd never leave bed. However, I do...

    Well, the bad news is

that Israeli Dancing got cancelled because our instructor needed a sick day. I staid home and danced to Just Dance with the Wii for 50 minutes instead. That in addition to the 30 minutes of weight training this morning makes this day a high intensity fitness day.

I decided to add Tabata workouts to my routine.

Tabata is a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) where each workout lasts for four minutes. For every exercise you push yourself as hard as you can for 20 seconds, then rest for ten seconds. That is one set. You complete eight sets of each exercise, and as easy as Tabata may...
