I Feed the Birds

We have hummingbird feeders outside our kitchen

window and I love to see them! Seriously, we'll get five of them at a time. I guess our house is the "it" restaurant for the birds lol. There's this one bird who loves to protect one of the feeders. He will sit there for long periods of time.

I have been enchanted by a young woman I met

two weeks ago. She has this aura that turns everything around her into pure chill. She's mature for her age but it still looks like she hasn't had much relationship experience. Tomorrow she's leaving 800 km away and in 2 weeks she's flying 18000 km away. I really want to kiss...

It's a great way not to have to throw out food

waste. Birds like meat scraps, they'll eat cooked pasta, even rice! They don't mind the cuttings from cabbage, even pea pods disappear. Don't waste food scraps see if they want them!

    My Backyard

My backyard is my feeding grounds for  feeding the birds. Every morning I put bread and anything I think the birds will eat down in the backyard. I watch the birds, squirels, crows and I dont know what, eat. My heart goes out to them because I know they are starving so I try...

I Am Noticing A Lot Of Changes

I began feeding the birds about twenty-three years ago.  I began because I was very lonely to see wildlife, as there were no creatures to be found anywhere about our property and also they had begun a huge building project behind us, which was tearing down one tree after...

There's a Whole Lot of Hanky-panky Going On Right In Front of Me

... from the birds right in front of my house, by the river! The collard doves are so in love, they preen each other, snuggle up to each other, sit close together and are always together.  Makes me soooo wistful!    As for the ducks, they are going crazy... the...

    Owl Bird House And Snakes

I love birds, song birds and birds of prey, but especially the Eastern Screech Owl families that attempt to raise their broods in my owl bird house.  I absolutely LOVE watching the baby owls as they develop from little, naked, funny looking birds that you would not know...

    Only Alfred Hitchcocks.

They are quite soothing, watching their foraging, yearning to fly, being eaten by a hawk, and then torn apart.

    A beautiful connection with nature.

I love to feed them and watch all the different birds. Most off all I love the robins, they are getting tame now and there is one that will come up to me and take mealworms from my hands.

I recently took the neighbor's 4 year old

and a 1 kg bag of stale popping corn to the park. The peacocks and the 4 year old both went nuts! Feeding peacocks is not a meditative experience. I should have brought a 10 kg bag ;-)

    Feeding the Ducks

My four year old just loves going and feeding the ducks. One of those simple and cheap pleasures in life. Feeding birds is a great way and cheap way to keep a small kid entertained for awhile.

    It is a divine mission.

Jesus's parable of not worrying about where you are in life. God feeds the birds, and I never let anything go to waste but lay it out for them. I give to church charities too, to help my fellow humans out however the church leads.

    Two feeders out back

and a hummingbird feeder in front. I usually end up with more squirrels then birds some days, but I love the variety of birds that do come in.

Bird feeding is a fun hobby—

so is bird watching. I've been feeding wild birds for close to a year now, and several bird feeders later, encouraged an abundant group of doves and cardinals to appear in my back yard. I can make out the frequent visitors by the distinguishing marks on their feathers, and...

    Forced Migration of Seagulls.

We live far from the sea and we have noticed as others have an increase in the population of Seagulls. They favour the high roofs of the factories where the young are safe from prowling cats and they are very territorial. They have started to dive bomb all of the smaller birds...

I feel birds are beautiful creatures and i am slightly jealous of them because they can fly.. I wish i could fly.. And get away for a little while.. But the birds always come back because i feed them.. i give them a home and let them know they are welcome there..

    They love bacon rind.

You know the fatty bit you don't always want to eat. Crusts and crumbs to peck at, grub worms, and any kind of fat. There is a saying about how we shouldn't worry about being able to live, because the birds are looked after. I guess it's true!
