I Find Mathematics Very Calming

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 169 People

Any time I see a number, be it on a license plate or a phone number that flashes on the TV my mind automatically starts trying to reduce it or find a pattern. It's disturbing at times because it almost seems like a compulsive addiction or something. The other night I was...

    So Calming

When I sit down and do math, everything in my head disappears besides that math problem. I clear out all my thoughts and worries, I just focus. It's calming just to think about one thing for a change. That's probably why I'm so good at it because it's not boring to me at all. I...

I'm a geek ok?   But I find something comforting in the knowledge that theres only one right answer, a goal, that when you've done it you've done it and you got it right. making the biggest mess of an equation into something coherent, then finding an answer. Its...

Math Everywhere, And I Have But One Mind To Apply To It.

All my life math has been my first love.  It fulfills me, it amazes me, it calms me.  It is predictable, orderly, fun, constantly new in some facet I have not found before.  The simplicity of it, the patterns it fills, the close relation it has with nature and...

    So Relaxing

I just love numbers. I feel more relaxed when solving Math problems than understanding Philosophy or other subjects where deep understanding is needed. In Math, you just need to anyalyze the problems and you can even derive formulas from other commonly used formulas.

I got my bachelors in mathematics because of how amazing, beautiful, pure, and logical it is. It is amazing. Not only did I love the undergrad work, the problems, but also the projects. Doing the nine-point circle, building multi-sided shapes, or even doing proofs that took up...

Just How I Deal With Stress

I have problems with stress and anxiety. I often find myself using mathematics problems to distract myself when I'm feeling very anxious about things or can't sleep. I know it sounds strange to some people, but numbers don't lie to you, they don't try to stuff you...

    Math Geek!

When I was pregnant with my daughter Abby, the doctor put me on bed rest. To pass the time I spent hours upon hours finding new formulas for advanced multiplication and taught the neighborhood children Algebra and beginners Calculus lol. When I am doing math it occupies my mind...

If I ever need to calm down,

I find doing quadratic equations in my head is a good way to distract myself.

    Also a Beauty Tip

Due to my newest schedule, I now go home at the time the second wave of heavy commuters choose to flow the traffic. I don't drive and I usually have too many things in my head anyway, so road rage is not really a problem of mine. But in the case where I need to wait 3...

The Love Of My Life ;)

I'm in love with maths because it's one of the purest things you can do. This world has become so effed up and everything has become twisted and changed, but the one thing that always remains the same is maths. It can't be corrupted, and that's why I love it :) It's so simple...

    Yes I Do

My math classes were my favorite.  They gave me the perfect balance between being a challenge and being something that's easy.  With numbers, gray areas don't exist.  Either they work or they don't, and I like that about working with them.  I think I said this...

    I Love You, Maths! Mwah! :* <3

I have always loved it. That is one thing I am proud I excel in. If I am given a problem, I will not rest until I solve it. And I almost always do. The satisfaction I feel after solving it.. I think I can feel a higher degree of that only when I decide to 'unvirgin' me lol =D...

    I'm only 17, and studying A-levels,

but I find the most interesting, and most fun mathematics are the type that you can work out yourself and derive, and there is space to explore within that. Basically most mathematics, but I don't particularly enjoy the Syllabus stuff as much as its just fed and they don't offer...
