I Find Peace In Nature

If I could live by a lake.

. I would watch the sunrise light up the water, I would watch the moon's reflection create crystals, and watch the sunset create a beautiful painting.

    Those few moments of solitude,

of silence, of peacefulness, of vastness ahead.. Just the breeze, just the trees and the cold, the vast valley, clouds and the sun, Just Nature.. like anywhere else.. Those few moments where nothing else matters, simply walking on the path, the stones, just feeling the breeze...

After a long, painful Monday at work I came home

and tossed some charcoal on the grill. Gas is a lot faster when feeding my starving belly, but charcoal is better for my sanity. As I sit on my deck and stare out into the prairie I can't help but smile. A cricket chirps behind me, a hawk screams from above, and the trees and...

With my coaching duties almost at an end,

I am tentatively planning a long day hike through the White Mountains. Next Saturday is my target date. Depending on the weather, I might go into the Presidential Range and climb something there. I love the humbling feeling of being out in the high and wild places the...

    On a bus. In California.

Headed South. It's early in the morn. Everyone's sleeping &/or quiet. I'm perusing EP... Intermittently gazing out the windows. The sun is rising beautifully over on my left... The clouds are sprinkled exquisitely upon my right. The orchards & the fields are calming...

As I walk to school during spring,

the street is lined up with trees full of bright light purple flowers. There are times when large amounts of petals have fallen and are scattered on the ground, but when you do, you'll feel like you stepped into a fairy tale, even just for a brief moment.

Stars shining. A few clouds drifting by. The half moon. And a palm tree.

    Still waters run deep.

I was born and raised on the last good street in a pretty bad part of town. I'm a city boy by default. That being said, I moved out to the country almost 10 years ago now. Of course, I took almost a 3 year detour to live in a city again but I'm back to the country at the...

It may be well below freezing out there,

but there was something refreshing about letting the cool breeze rush past me as I stood at my kitchen window. There's a small patch of lawn with a few 50+ foot tall pine trees just outside my kitchen. The lawn is covered in snow that, except for a few dead leaves, branches and...

When I find a job in the future,

I want to live in a place which would be a bit remote. I'm so old fashioned, but the thought of living in apartments in big cities does not interest me at all. I want to settle somewhere peaceful and simple.

Even when the skies are ominous

and threatening... If you look hard enough or just keep your eyes focused there's always light even just a little bit. Even sometimes it's just a flicker or a reflection but it's there. Hold on to it and know better days are on the way. This is my theory of life and living.

    Nature is so peaceful.

I just love walking in the woods when its quiet and peaceful. I love watching birds. My parents are bird watchers and so am I. We have seen very rare birds. Nature is awesome. I have seen deer and moose. My family go on vacation in Maine in the summer. Nature is truly amazing.

Bare feet were made for nights like this,

when the rain seems to fall from the stars themselves. There is no thunder, only distant lighting, but it is friendly enough. The moisture clings to the warm summer air, steam rises from the pavement and my feet make short-lived patterns on the puddles. The rain is gentle...
