Origami was first introduced to me by my father.

I was seven years old at the time. My father was a lot nicer to me back then. I remember sitting with him on the bed learning how to fold a frog. I've been folding ever since. I received my first book at age 8. Later I received another book from one of my mother's friends as a...

    Made My Own

I started origami in the 3rd grade and have been doing it every so often since at least twice a week every week it is very calming to do making each fold into part of the creation, I try my best to make each one perfect so the final piece is even better than the last try/attempt...

    Since I Was Little

My folks got me a book of origami when I was 8 I think. I couldn't do everything at first, but tried to master at least one new origami every year (which progressed as I got older). By high school I was fairly proficient & actually folded over 100 cranes for the Model UN club...

    Olivia And The Crane

I was a quiet kid and this was one of my favorite pastimes.Back in the days though the things I folded weren't the sophisticated, beautiful origami we know today. Just boats, turtles and paper planes..My cousins and I even had a competition over who could fold the best...

Anyone in my middle school can tell you

that I'm an origami artist. I learned simple paper folding when I was younger to entertain myself, but now I mostly do it to impress my friends and feel accomplished when I figure something out. My mom just got me a book on making different types of butterflies, and I'm really...

    Everyday At Work

My partner's mother (basically my mother-in-law ha) gave me an origami calendar for Christmas because she knew that I was artistic. I had never done origami in my life and didn't even know if it appealed to me, but it was a very thoughtful gift. I decided to put that...

    Kusudama And Modular Origami

I have been folding origami since I was a child. It is a simple pleasure. There are a few rules to follow when it comes to working with paper which require technical aptitude. It is an art form that follows logic and high math. It is also, in a sense, magical. What I like most...

In Need Of Some Origami Paper

    Impressive Origami Dragon

I was so impressed by this dragon, I had to share. I've liked origami since my grandmother bought me a couple of books and papers for it when I was in fourth grade. Without looking at instructions I can do a seal, crane, box or paper balloon, and a few others. This however IMO...

    For Fun

I like to print things off of the computer and use as crafts for the kids. They love it and although I'm not great at it, they could care less. I do enjoy watching those who are proficient as it is quite the talent.

I Fell In Love With It My First Try

Its so simple, relaxing, fun. It takes time and effort to make it beautiful and your own. I have figured out how to shrink the projects. Just make what you start with smaller. Its nice to try and find new ways to make something. Like the birds and balloons. I just love it. Its so...

    I Also Fold Origami

I love the Komatsu squirrel and have always gravitated towards the more complex origami, I find it helps me to focus and relax. While I rarely have time to fold these days I do return to it when things get really bad and I just need to find my centre again.

I love origami! I'm currently amidst making 1000 cranes. I've only started thus i don't understand the origami language. Like what exactly is a mountain fold and stuff like that. I need an origami dictionary. I don't get the terms! I only know how to make a box...

    A Gift Of Stress Relief?

When I was last in hospital I remembered the story of Sadako Sasaki and started folding crains aiming to get to 1000. I didn't quite make 1000 but I did a lot.
