    Just a Little

I don't garden much yet since I don't have my own place to do it, but my grandma has me help her often.  There's something very theraputic about watering, weeding, and planting.  Taking care of flowers, trees, shrubs, and all that's out in our lawn pays off - it's...

    It Brings Me Peace

Its where I go when I need to get away.  Something about planting and nurturing then seeing the results is fulfilling to me.  Its one of the few things that I'm very good at.  I can love a plant and watch it grow into something more beautiful that it was before.

    Sugar Snap Peas

When I was a child, one of my parent’s favorite treat was to take us to a lone Chinese restaurant in town, House of Chong. Among other things they were introduced to snow peas (also known as sugar snaps). My parents were curious people who wanted to know how to fix...

I Like To Garden But Don't Like The Work

I love to garden but my yard is horrible and I am thinking about hiring a professional to clear out the numerous of tree-like weeds in my yard. I love to plant flowers that are already bloomed because I do not like to wait. But this is my first time planting flower seeds. I...

    I Planted Some Tomatoes....

Tomatoes   In March of this year, my quite-pregnant stepdaughter, in the throes of the nesting urge, planted a garden and told me on the phone about some upside-down-pots she’d hung on her porch for tomatoes.   (http://www.gardeners.com/Gardener+s+Revolution...

One Summer Without Even A Single Plant Outdoors

Summer 2012 was too much. This year, back to the big projects. How does a hanging wall of petunias sound? I hope good because that is what will happen at my little place.

Gardening with My Mother When I was a little

girl I used to HATE gardening, greenhouses, nurseries, and the ever dreaded “Plant Section” that could be found in the spring-time of many stores. My mother would browse everything and soak in the sun while she wove her way down the aisles. Magazines and catalogs would come...

    Learning About Petunias

This is the first year that I have tried petunias.  They are not cooperatiing.  I may have planted the seeds too deep or maybe it just isn't warm enough yet, even in the tray inside my house.

    Plants Good.

I don't have a big fancy garden, but I find it really soothing to go out there and take care of the yard.  I also sort of enjoy the executive power of being able to decide what's a weed and what to plant.  This year I put in some jasmine, a tomato plant, a blueberry...

Turning Point Farm (my Very First Community Garden!)

My friends and I decided to start a community garden to provide fresh foods, education about healthy eating habits, and an opportunity to bond with our neighbors. I was never really good at keeping plants my entire life, or so I thought, until I was hired at my community...

To My Green Friends, Another Question

To my green friends:  It has been awhile since I have asked a question about alternative living.  What are you planting this year and how to do intend to preserve it through the following winter? To my new gardening friends:  Glad to be part of the group.
